Well....

Im not completely saying an exhaust wont work. But i am saying that going by what everyone is saying throwing a exhaust on it warrants a re-tune..

So are you telling me that the advertised 280hp at the wheels from Greddy is with a aftermarket exhaust? this is news to me..

it was tested with a larger exhaust. and yes aftermarket exhaust needs a retune. that is what i was planning to do on wednesday.

and s2kart i am not sure if i want to do that. i mean sure it makes sense, but I dont know if I have the money to tune withhe cat to sort out my problems and then tune again with the test pipe. but maybe i'll just sort it out with cat. we'll see what my shop wants to do.

my issues has to be with the map right? i mean it's making boost there just is no vtec, power delivery, and the a/f past 6500K is too rich.

i really hope that is the problem and that we can get it resolved on wednesday. the money is sure piling up.

The 280hp that everyone keeps talking about (For the AP1) stems from the original post in this very thread, in which the owner dynoed his car and posted the results. And yes, he has a 70mm catback exhaust.

The prototype AP1 and AP2 kits were tuned at greddy using an 80mm single catback, they were NOT tuned with the stock system.

My references have only been to Trust Power in Japan, who I believe is the original kit developer, whom Greddy reps. Here are their numbers, measured at the wheels:

AP1, all stock (including cat) except Trust PE-T1-R 60mm exhaust: 159.6kw power, 196.9Nm torque = (214WHP/145ft lbs torque), peak torque @7500rpm

AP1, with Trust PE-T1-R 60mm (2.364") exhaust, 60mm silencer in the exhaust tip,
catalytic converter is on the car, boost is .55kgf/cm2 (7.8psi): 225kw power, 274Nm torque = (302WHP/202ft lbs torque), peak torque @3910rpm

They mention to tune based on environment, fuel octane, and vehicle conditions, which is to be expected.
*forgot - the 302whp was at 8640rpm, looks like it would be 309whp @ 9Krpm.

^^The Trust tunes are different from the US tunes. Greddy tuned their own cars/basemaps using My AP2 and Will_Chinlee's AP1.

The dealer that sold me the AP2 kit said he got it shipped from Japan. Maybe I have the Trust tune and not the Greddy tune?

I have not installed the kit yet so who knows.

yes, if he got it DIRECTLY from Japan (ie. directly from Trust or directly from one of TRUSTs dealers), then the tune will not be good for US spec vehicles. The way you can tell if the Emanage is for a US spec vehicle is that on the back of the unit, above the serial number, it will say something like "US_TK_ap1"
