Default Greddy Turbo Questions thread....

I didn't want to hijack all the install threads anymore, so I figured there was enough interest in this kit where people can ask questions regarding the kit, and have owners answer them. So, I'll start....

1)I really hate the look of the Greddy Filter, can I install a K&N without problems on the basemap, or do I need tuning for it?

2)I don't really want gauges, but would like to know if I am getting full boost and not leaking. The new Greddy Profec II reads boost I believe, can I install it with the kit, and use it as a boost gauge until I get a tune, or do you need to set things up on it?

3)Why do people advise against VTECing the car with this kit? Is it just for a little while until the turbo breaks in, or until you get a tune?

Thanks for the help!

1) thats fine

2) thats fine

3) you don't want to go WOT on an untuned F/I car because you can blow the engine, but you should be fine with this kit..since it comes pretuned.

Looks like I can answer my own question here, on the K&N site

http://www.knfilters.com/search/univround.aspx

Cool- a banner ad that's helpful!

Get an AEM dri-flow. Ditch the oil filters.

What's the acuator? is it the thing next to the turbo that has the orange covering on it? Does the vaccum hose get attached to it and the air intake pipe?

Thats the actuator. The hose connects to the actuator to nipple on the charge pipe (not the air intake pipe)

How well is the tune? I'm assuming it's a very mild tune till a better tune was applied?
