The funny thing is, even Greddy won't give you a straight answer. They advertise this kit as a plug and play, but when people ask if they can install it, and go WOT until 9,000rpms, you get the "not a good idea" crowd.

Has anyone installed just the kit, no tune, etc, and ran the car to the max? Any problems?

After the initial install of the turbo kit is it better to run regular oil to break in the turbo or switch directly to synthetic?
Some might say use regular oil, but in greddy turbos, PLEASE use synthetic from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, regular oil can be used, but you have to drive like a grandma....or even slower!!! From my experience in rebuilding greddy turbos, people don't know how to properly break in a turbo w/ conventional oil, so they end up baking the oil (since conventional is much easier to bake), and blowing the seals. My speculation is that they tell themselves they'll drive slow, but they can't hold back and end up revving up. I would just use syn from the beginning.

Fair enough. I will be taking it easy until I get a tune anyways.

What's the proper way of breaking in a new turbo? Bear in mind, this is a daily driven car, so SOME acceleration is needed (merging, etc)....

Another mildly stupid question....

This isn't really performance related. I'm kind of anal regarding the looks of my car, and don't want any of the blue hose couplers in my motor bay. Does anyone know the size/pipe size so I can order some other colors like red or black?

Thanks! Just ordered a Synapse synchronic BOV. Should we run BOV to recirculate or dump to atmosphere?

I think he is referring to the piping of the charge pipes and the silicone couplers. As for couplers it uses (1) 50mm dia x 70mm long, (2) 60mm dia x 70mm long, (1) 70mm dia x 70mm long, (1) 50mm dia to 60mm dia reducer and (1) 60mm dia to 70mm dia reducer

Thank you very much for that. Are the intercooler elbows 90 degrees? Are they the same size as the rest?

This setup does not use elbows. All the piping is bent to correct angles, therefore all you use are straight couplers. If you go to the first page of Kix's Greddy Install writeup he has a link of the Greddy instructions that came with the kit. It shows all the parts that come with the kit in the very beginning.
