I wonder if I have to go for a re-tune later on...with my tuning day temps hovering in the 90s, and then dropping to the 40s later in the year, surely I will need some correcting no?
Most likly you will need 2 maps... one for summer one for winter. In order to make the best but safest WHP

two maps aren't necessary.. the stock ECU can handle temp changes if the EU is tuned properly

You may need to correct for temps past map-clamp though, right?

Yes it can but not under WOT conditions. Being that the ECU is Open loop under WOT conditions its only going to put the fuel and timing values you set in the ECU. Say you set those values when its 40 degress out. You can run a lot more timing and less fuel when its 40 degrees rather than when its 100 degrees out! Thats why you should either retune or have two maps.

Ok, so you guys know my temp gauge "burned out" but which part do I need to replace to make it work again?

correct me if im wrong but when you set values in the emanage aren't they relative? i.e. the stock ecu will determine the fuel and timing and the Emanage will make adjustments based off that? im not sure...

my car was tuned when it was about 50 degrees out; my AFR is pegged at the same levels under closed and open loop, partial throttle etc when its 90 degrees out today

There shouldn't be a need for a retune on any tuning system assuming the tuner knows what he is doing. The only thing you will gain is a couple horsepower at best which is not worth the amount of money you'll spend.

you are correct,
If the tuner is smart, he will tune you at a 90- 110 degree weather map when its even 50 degrees allowing for adjustment in weather, heat soaking and other variables that change. But if your going for peak power 100% of the time you will need alternate tunes for different enviroments. Most tuners tune on the safe side and not for peak power.
