dang =/

I'm starting to read more posts about people having problems with their kits and selling their kits. It kinda sucks because this kit seemed like the kit to have..

But now that the price just went up close to 5 grand, its just not worth it to me.

i was thinking of going FI again, and had this in mind for plug n play, but i just cant get over the new price =/
new price does suck; good thing i got it while it was cheap

IMO the kit isnt' plug and play because you still need a tune; as far as i'm concerned, the base map is good enough for driving around on lightly until you get a real tun

why did you sell your turbo kit?

well at the time, i WAS gonna get a place with my lady and i decided to sell so i can use that money for our new place.... Turns out we wouldnt be able to do it because she pays a good chuck of her parents rent for their place. so if she left, and we got our place, they would struggle, and i couldnt have that. so february their parents are gonna get a place smaller and affordable.

Which now leaves me turboless hahahaha.. BUT my car runs great.. i'm deciding if i wanna go turbo again, if so, i would def get the same kit, but the only difference is, i would go with Hondata this time. IP are 5 mins from my place now so i can get things done there.

I supposed i could do that again. And having a hondata for my s2k would greatly improve on reliability and be emmissions friendly =D

Kits can still be bought on Ebay for 3700ish.

Well, my experience with the Greddy Turbo kit has been good. I wil list my posative experiences, as well a smy negative ones.

The Good
1). Price was great at the time of purchase
2) Very complete kit
3) Install was very easy less then 8 hrs
4) Base tune yielded 276RWHP safely
5) Quick spool, great low end grunt.
6) Have not had any "Greddy Turbo kit" related problems, * sort of
anyway

The not so good

1) Lowest WHP of any kit, still great for the street though
2) Not upgradeable
3)Somehow I melted the A/C line so I no longer have A/C (preventable I guess)
4) Car kinda feels slow up high 6,000RPMS ( I know it still pulls, I have m,any highway pulls to prove it
5). Price has increased, but that didnt effect me

All in all, its a great kit, power is great, though I am used to it now, I let Andre from the boards here drive it, he seemed impressed.

So I have had some headaches, nothing major but I think in a year or two I will either Sell this, or make it a "track only car and really learn how to drive.

I have been looking at used Vipers, and I gotta say seems I can pick one up for around 55-60K. I can see it now, the Exotic car look, all the power I need and Torque like a Mother F---r

Anyone know the insurance on one of these badboys, I am really thinking of getting one in a year or two

I think its all in your head that the power drops off at 6k. Just look at your dyno, your making power up to redline just the torque is dropping off some.

BTW, I gave a coworker a ride in my car today and he was quite impressed. He said it pulled a lot harder than the 135i he test drove over the weekend. He's thinking about getting a greddy kit for his RX-8 now.

I know it is making 300RWHp past 6,000RPMS, just mental .

i'm glad someone mentioned the dyno plots. Torque drops off at higher RPMs, that's what everyone is feeling. The dyno plots prove that HP is still increasing.

As for the price, only the [b]advertised[b] priced increased, the dealers are still able to sell it for what they were selling it for before.....

Thats the idea of the MAP pricing structure.

Maybe I am incorrectly interpeting what you are saying , but I just purchased a Greddy kit last week for my AP1, and even vendors on this forum all quoted me over $5k. Luckily I was able to find a retailer that was able to hook me up with a sub $4k price, but from what Ive seen/been told, dealers are now asking more.

While this kit is pretty much exactly what I was looking for, and Im sure Ill be happy with the outcome, I would not have bought this kit for $5k+. At that pricing it is way too close to "better" options.
