Greddy Turbo Questions thread....

Are you running a check valve/ krank Vent on your PCV line? I'm running a $4 supra valve. The added boost pressure in the head blows a lot of oil out of the breather port. The check valve will prevent some of it. I have a DIY I need to post my install. I found a much nicer looking way of doing it this weekend.
It helps performance a little to not burn the oil, but keeping boost out of the valve cover is the biggest thing. I'll post some pics of my setup tomorrow.
I suggest you don't install the breather KV TRBOKEV. I had some problems with the head pulling so much vac it was messing up my timing chain cover crank seal. The thing would hiss like crazy at idle, and squeal under load. I now have a small oil leak there. With the pcv valve in place, you prevent boost from getting in, and the chickens don't show up in your spark plug wells.

Maybe i'll post one of them for sale on the boards.

Ever had this happen?

I didn't over torque it, but one of my exhaust studs popped off from thermal expansion. I have junk luck this week. ...and I got backed into in my parking lot yesterday.

If it hasn't happened yet, it will almost guaranteed happen to anyone using a log style manifold (and some tubulars as well). The only real fix is to use the ARP bolts that are used with an SRT-4 as they work with our engine also. They can be ordered through inlinePRO (as I did) or other venders.
Thanks. I've sourced some higher grade bolts, much like ARP's. I did notice the stock bolts felt soft when I installed the manifold. I'm also quite surprised they're 8mm, and not 10mm. It's hard to see in the picture, but there is a thicker casting blemish right where that bolt is. It may have expanded slightly more due to that. Slowly working the bugs out.
DIY Krank Vents: The Clean Way.
What you need:
1'- 1/2" breather hose (~12mm).
2 - 1/2" Hose Clamps
1 - 96 Supra TT PCV Valve
This will all cost you under $10. I got everything at Advance Auto. The PCV link is here.
The finished product:

Lubricate the outside of the valve and the inside of the hose with spray lube. Push the PCV into the hose. This will take quite a bit of effort, but it provides a good seal around the valve. I put a 3/8" deep socket on a ratchet, placed it socket up on the concrete, and pushed the valve into the hose with it. Make sure the smaller end is facing away from the engine towards the intake manifold. You can see the lump in the hose here:
Take some of the old PCV hose you pulled off the head, and cut two small sections out of it that will just cover each nipple, and push them on. (One on the head, and one on the IM) The 1/2" hose will slip snugly over these scraps. Tighten down both hose clamps and you're done. 5 minutes tops.

Sorry for the big pictures.

BTW... I don't have the Greddy Kit. I didn't want anyone to get confused... lol.
