HELP! Comptech SC installed, but running LEAN
History: I have an 04 w/ less than 1700 miles on it and several months ago I purchased a WRECK S from a fellow board member that had rolled his S w/o any insurance
. The wreck S had a Comptech SC w/ AC (reason for buying it) and I had my local shop remove the SC kit and install it in my S. After the installation was complete, they dyno

[ (The only additions I made to the SC kit were a Tech2 7lbs pulley and Spearco Radiator.)
When dynoing, did you get the boost readings?
I bought a Tech2 7lb pulley from a local member. I went to get it dynoed and the boost peaked out at 9.2lbs.
Lucky I had bigger injectors and AEM EMS to compensate.I think the 04 pulley peaks out at 5.5-6lbs. If you added a 7lb pulley without adjusting the FPR to add more fuel, this should be your problem. Even adjusting the FPR to add more fuel might not be enough. I would highly suggest emanage or the AEM EMS.
Turn the little screw on top of the FPR clockwise to add more fuel. I also suggest you do it on the dyno and go from there.

i know they contacted Comptech and adjusted the FPR to add more fuel, but it didn't help. my tech said basically the fuel pump wasn't pumping enough pressure as it should.
anymore input?
the place that did the install has done several SC kits on the S2K and is very reputable amongst S2K owners on this forum, so I'm pretty sure they know what they are doing. The tuner told me the car was running so lean that they cut the dyno'ing short, so the car didn't go past 7000RPM's.
I'm with you on the full tank of gas evaporating. I just can't believe that so much can evaporate w/o anyone at the body shop smelling it. Can that really happen from May 4 to the 20th?
From what I know, everything should have been installed and installed correctly since they've done several kits in the past, but who knows now after finding the lid not installed correctly.
I didn't post after the dyno because I took the tuner's word that the fuel pump may be broken, but am now questioning it due to the new found problem. I'm just concerned that the real problem may not be the fuel pump, but the installer forgetting to close the gas lid.
Thanks for the input so far!

I pretty much had the same experience.
since its a 2.2 motor the crank sizes are different. Also the injectors are the same as in the older models but the bigger motor requires more fuel. I bought the 9lb pulley which I though would run about 7.5 lbs but i have only 6.6. I got the RC 550 injectors and it runs awsome. I can't see your graph but mine made 315hp and 202tq. I have a VAFC which we used to lean it out because it was now running too rich. The A/F was like 13.96 before the injectors and now its at 12.3 across the vtec zone.
I also searched and asked everyone about this but no one knew because no one has really done work to the 04+ S2000's. My tuner also though it was the fuel pump or FMU but it def was not. Cancel that if you ordered one because everything that came with the kit will work fine.
550 injectors cost me $355 and the NGK iridium plugs like like $56. You car will run awsome and everything will be tuned in the safe zone.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

The car is back at the shop and has had made some progress, but we are still running into some problems. The Empty Gas mystery has been solved along with the reason why the gas cover was left open. The gas gauge was showing Empty due to my body shop worker unplunging a harness during the repair and the cover was intentionally left opened, but SEALED by my installer because he knew he had to replace the fuel pump.
The new fuel pump is in and it did make a difference. Before it was replace my Gauge read 45 PSI at idle and maxed out at 60 PSI or so. With the new fuel pump, it reads 60PSI at idle and goes to 100PSI or so at 6-7K RPM's.
The new problem is that the car is STILL RUNNING TO LEAN and "producing too much power" (what my installer said!). He said that Comptech was only able to produce around 270 at the wheel at sea level and my car is now producing 297 and I live in Utah at 7K RPMs. The car at around 14.3 during 7k rpm's. My installer said he won't allow the car to leave at that lean of a level and that I have to remove the 7lb pulley unless I want to upgrade my fuel management and injectors. They are putting the Comptech pulley back in in the morning and said that should allow the car to run safe
I asked about upgrading the injectors and adding a VAFC, but they said the VAFC won't really do sh@! and won't solve the lean issue... I really want to keep the extra power, but don't want to risk blowing my motor.
Silver S2k4: so you think if I upgrade my injectors and that's it it will solve the lean issue? Just to clarify things, I am running everything that's listed in my sig. and the A/F ratio was about 14.3 at around 7K rpms.
ALSO: they said my car should produce 250-260 at the wheel after they install the comptech pulley back in, isn't that a bit low???
just get the 550 injectors and you will be fine. Also you might want to get the NGK iridium spark plugs when you do the tunning. I had the exact same problems but i was only running 6.6 pound. I used the VAFC to lean it out some becuase it was running richer than I wanted it to.
RC engineering injectors were $355 for me with the clips so its not that much money to dish out. No one has ever really ran the F22 like this and thats why no one knows about it. I made 315 with those mods and so should you.
The fuel pump or the FMU has nothing to do with it.
