if using a catch can do you keep the pcv valve?

I have heard conflicting opinions on this subject.


When using a catch can. Do you keep the OEM pcv setup? (running from the Pcv port over to the intake manifold)

Mines not... I just set it up using the stock ports going to the catch can.

No, it's not needed especially with the increase in crank case pressure from being boosted.

I have some seen some people still use the OEM pcv setup when they have a catch can. why would they do that?

Depends where your lines are. If none of the ones run from pressurized side of intake to valve cover then not needed. But in part throttle situation you can use the vacuum from intake to suck air out of crank case. Then when you go into boost it closes.

I think all PCV does is keep the flow in one direction. (Positive Crankcase Ventilation)

Since the catch can does not have any reason to push flow back, the PCV doesn't matter.

If you remove it, you simply get more venting.

On the AP2, it's simpler to just swap out the PCV fitting with a hose fitting to make things nice
