keep in mind coils dont like water... cowls get a lot of it. If you never have the risk of getting water in there then dont worry about it. It seems like you did your research so im not quite sure what you are asking. People have done what you want to do so you know its out there you just need to do it. What is your question exactly? seems like you just need a wiring diagram.

I have the Honda diagram and should be good, verification would be nice though since I am no expert when it comes to ignitions. I am a ME not a CE so my electrical knowledge is restricted to my text books.

The biggest question is what people used for the plug wires. Accel makes several premade sets and I believe I can use on from a DOHC head but I would rather not have to buy two set to make one set that works.

In a new twist I spoke with Ya and they are using the coils from a RSX/TSX and making much more power than I with the factory plug gap without any issues while using an AEM EMS.

Hoping that a 2006+ Civic SI was the same I pulled this PT# from the dealer of the coils of 30520-RRA-007, I also noticed that the AP2 cars have a different PT# and are less expensive than the AP1 version.

2006+ Civic SI 30520-RRA-007 $42 ea
2003 S2000 30520-PCX-007 $89 ea
2006+ S2000 30520-PZX-007 $66 ea

So whats the difference?

I decided to do some searching again, while was on the topic of ignition, and still have not found anything to detect, record and pull timing for knock? Does anyone know if there is anyone that that Closed Loop Knock detection?

I looked into the J&S unit but, I see no way to adjust the frequency so you are really not doing much better than the EMS can do.

What else is there?

I think I might bite the bullet and purchase a Optrand or Kistler spark plug pressure transducer but I am not sure just yet. I have a call into Optrand now about pricing, functionality, accuracy, longevity..........

Had the oppurtunity to talk to Brain Fisher at Pinks he believes that the RSX coil packs which they use on there setups are able to be pushed a little further without issues compared to the stock coils. They tend to use the kpro ems with there setups so that might account for something too.
He noted that the issues from the stock coils can be attributed to a combination of miles, age, and the AEM ems burning up the coils sooner.

I want an upgrade but don't like the idea of going away from oem equipment when it comes to ignition because most after market stuff I've seen people use on there cars seems to have more problems than success.

I guess I would like to see test on the various honda acura coils to see if there is really a difference.
As for the Gm LS2 coil packs it seems like an intresting option. Good job on finding all this info on getting this setup to work DSDDCD.

How much boost will you run?
I had the CBR coil before but found that the stock coil works fine at 20 psi. I have not really need to use higher boost yet.

I notice that AEM make some pencil coil. Do you know if they can make one to fit the f20c? What does the AEM drift s2k use?

Probably 20-22psi at the top end but I am not sure yet.

AEM is using the motorcycle coils and their ignition box which is similar to the DIS-4. AEM's coils do not have igniters so they would not work properly w/o the ignition box.

I got frustrated at the beginning b/c I could not figure out why anyone would add an additional ignition box like the AEM or MSD when the factory has already given us the ability to use coils with igniters. Both AEM and the MSD box are around $500 w/o coils and you have to add another component that complicates things. I knew that a few member were using this set up and that Evans had very good luck with it, using the LS2 coils. They are plug and play with the factory coils and the EMS has a built in calibration for the coils so that is preset for you. The only challenge is the wires, mounting brackets and wiring harness.

I found a company by the name of Optirand that sells a transducer the fits in the spark plug and sends a 0-5V signal. The cost is approximatly $1100 for the entire kit with 1 plug. With this could work to develop a system for closed loop knock detection..

Any thoughts?
