I think you and I are the only one's that get a little turned on by this stuff. Like all things that ferrari does first........this is going to start trickling down into a lot of production cars and then hit the aftermarket scene. Its going to be nice

I found this looking for another pic. I've had several PM's on how to install the AEM CDI/MSD DIS

Did you read the article about sensor placement? I am a bit worried with the pent roof design of our heads we may not see signs of preignition under certain circumstances. When used with the other sensors this would not be a big issue though.

I would estimate at least 10-15% more power out of the average engine with this, or better yet the reduction in other emissions related features for better fuel mileage and power. It would be unreal to see this technology coupled with water injection or even better LNG / Propane. Throw in some electronically actuated valves and our 2.0 and 2.2 liter motors will be giants like the big blocks of the past.

I don't think AEM does they had some reliability issues. The car I worked on went through 2 AEM CDI's before switching to the MSD. The wiring was identical for both units.

Sorry about sounding negative dsddcd. I didn't see the big picture. Looks like a kick ass system. My only question is where would the sensors go in the head? It seems crowded already.

Well, there are two options.

(1) Spark Plug Mounted

(2) Drilling and taping the head and running the wires through the intake manifold. The sensors are very small and wont take up much room. The hard part is the taping and mounting.

You won't see 15% more power with a pressure sensor. I don't get any benefit from advancing my timing where I am now at 12:1 compression. Maybe 2 hp. You could up the compression a bit I suppose, but even 13:1 isn't going to produce that much more power.

True 15% does seem like a bit much....if you are N/A. But for FI, upping the boost pressure and being able to finely tune each cylinder to their limits before pre-ignition/knock would produce much better gains than any N/A could acquire through tuning.

I'm just wondering how we can get the electronics used with the sensors to work with our aftermarket EMS so that it can take the information from the sensors and use it to control the ignition curves.

Right now it just seems like the knock monitoring system is just used as measuring device/ tuning tool. But, I would like to see that system working together with the EMS to make corrections in real-time. Or maybe somebody can design a module that can enable the two systems to
