The coil problem is no myth, the problem is inconsistent quality from Honda. My factory coils were breaking up at a little over 400 WHP, I put in a used set from another car and was able to hit 500 WHP with all else remaining the same. Some cars just come with better coils. In terms of them hitting the cpk for Honda's Engineers, it is a no brainer, I have never seen any issues at the stock HP levels. So why build it any better?

Okada's are ok, but I have seen them start to encounter problems above 500 WHP and they are ridiculously expensive. The LS2 coils are the way to go.

I wonder why so many people want these coils if everyone is saying their stock coils work fine. Mine were not horrible at 496whp, when i was tuned at 525whp they had to be gapped super tight. Then when i switched to the new sidewinder manifold making 551whp the new coils were a necessity at that point. Jeff Evans will be releasing his kit near the end of the month for a very reasonable price and they work awesome.

None yet, I still have to overcome (2) obsticles

(1) Find a plug wire boot that seals the valve cover like the coils and a set of boots for the other end.

(2) Track down the pig tails for the GM coils

[QUOTE=dsddcd,Apr 29 2009, 08:39 AM] I found a company by the name of Optirand that sells a transducer the fits in the spark plug and sends a 0-5V signal.

Here is another they sent me that, burst my bubble a bit.

Http:/www.optrand.com/KnockPaper.pdf

Here is the pricing structure, you send in a plug or multuples they modify them and then you need to get one of the sensors to decifer and convert the light to a 0-5V signal (Very similar to Toslink system).

$395 for the first modified plug
$350 for 2-4 plugs
$300 for 4 or more plug

$835 for the non-temperature cominsated sensor
$985 for the temperature cominsated sensor
