ILP 3mm HG, has been used for years. Yeah they go bad but they seem to last 20k when installed right and tuned right. Go OEM and run 12psi and cross your fingers or run 20 psi with little problem. Looks like you may need a new tune though or maybe a touch up.

wait, so overpressurized = the headgasket is blown?

Im so slow im sorry
Yes pressure from the cylinders leaks into the coolant passages and over pressurizes the system.

I also thought I could smell just a slight amout of coolant on startup, which would make sence now.

So have you ever seen the coolant level really high or full to where it is coming out? I have 7700 miles on mine.
Bump! LOL

Well, I noticed my overflow was low, so I put a few cups of antifreeze in and after my drive home I noticed that there was coolant splattered on the cross member and around the coolant bottle.

So, I have some choices to make now.

1.) Install the factory HG until I can get time to pull the motor. I am moving so this may be next year.

2.) Use a thick head gasket and take my chances again

What do you think?
How about:

1) verify that it really is even blown.
2) re torque the head gasket again if it is indeed leaking.
3) Install a 3mm Inline pro head gasket if it indeed is actually blown.

Seeing coolant next to the bottle is not a good indicator of a blown gasket IMO. That is unless the bottle is full and overflowing after some hard driving and/or you have air that you can feel in your top radiator hose. As mentioned before, I have sloshed coolant out of my bottle just because the car pulls so damn hard now and the cap does not truly seal on the bottle.

In the event that it actually is blown, you are NOT going to be happy with the power you make on pump gas with a stock head gasket, so don't even kid yourself!

You need to call Laskey and order that short block already so you can just throw that in when you want/need to and call it a day.

I have not seen it high level or just sings of it coming out. However, I have started it cold for about 10 sec then shut it off and pulled the radiator cap to find that the system was pressurized.

Do a leakdown test on your motor and pop the rad cap, if you see it bubble, then you KNOW it's toast..otherwise don't freak out just yet.
