It's 1 year warranty and up to their discretion after they tear down the motor and determine the cause of failure...

I'm just under the 1 year mark, from what I can see from my emails, I picked up the car the first week of July 2020. To be honest, I'm really just leaning toward buying a well documented, unopened OEM F22 long block. After all I've been through, I don't think I can bring myself to drop the car off, yet again, pay thousands of dollars, again, and then be back on here in a year with the same story... for the 4th time.

I get it on not wanting to go through this again potentially. To be honest, whether I tear up a motor or decide to try to boost, my first direction would be a K-Swap. I love our motor and part of me would hate to swap it, but the k motors are dirt cheap relative to the F motors, they handle mods better, etc. Hopefully they help you out on this one!

there are people with new OEM shortblocks for 6500$ if you choose to go that route (i know of 3 different shops/people hoarding them), unopened blocks are good if you can inspect and confirm they run prior to buying it. i've heard people have good luck with JDM engines, but those will likely be 2.0's not 2.2's. i feel for ya, it sounds you're getting into GT3/4 cost territory in terms of ownership... lol i was looking at the GT4 the other day, its mighty nice for 100k w/ a warranty if you can get one

Just beware of facebook sellers. There are people on there claiming they can sell brand new engines from honda for $4,800, but of course you can "only order by phone, hard to get in touch, can only get through poland, etc .. in other words, scammers. Even if Honda did re-release them no way someone could buy, resell and make money on them at $4800.

Oh d@mn! Sorry to hear about this....again!

If you were so inclined to put another engine in this thing, I'd recommend just going to a K-swap. I've been looking into the K-swap for various other builds as well as a possible replacement for the S for if and when the F20C goes bad. It's roughly the same cost between a used F-series engine and a K-swap package with potential for CHEAP engine replacements down the line. Plus much better parts availability, OEM and aftermarket.

And to add, if you go Kswap give Andy a call at ASM in Wisconsin. Guy really knows his stuff and really knows these cars. Not to mention his packages are reasonably priced. Waiting to see the details on the stage 2 and stage 5 packages he has listed. If I need a motor for this car I will likely Kswap it. I would still grab up a good used F20C if I can find one and hold it if I wanted to go back but for a track used car the Kswap is a pretty good sounding option. Replacment motors are cheap after that if you ever trash one.

the people that i know of are local and i've personally seen 2 of the shops (one of which has 10+ BNIB short blocks between f20 and f22). they do enough business to not tarnish their reputation over a couple thousand dollars.

There seems to be a potential issue with how these new, never used oem blocks are pickled and or stored. Maybe something Honda used as a startup lubricant doesn't like sitting unused for decades.

The stories of new, never opened and finally sold blocks failing very shortly after install isn't encouraging.
