Inline Pro Engine #3 - knocking after 1 track day. It's over.
I'm not even attempting to call them about it. What would I say?
If I'm in their shoes, no chance in hell I'm going to entertain honoring some warranty for a bearing of some sort 350+ days after I installed the engine.
Not to mention, what's to get from this? No chance they just send me cash. So now what? I obviously don't want another rebuild from them.
My only hope is someone out there might want some strong pistons, rods, a recently refreshed head, brand new oil pump and timing set with a couple thousand miles on em... ? who knows.

My 2c is that they need to step up to do something, even if they provide you another rebuilt motor you could sell it to recoupe your cost. Or trade for a higher mileage oem with good compression.
It’s not like this is the first or even the second time it has happened. It’s pretty damaging for their reputation and they should address it if they want to win s2000 business going forward.

I disagree. If they were competent they would've logged mileage of your car before it left the shop. You've only put a few thousand miles on it since then? Let alone the fact that this is your THIRD motor from them. And I can assure you, you're most likely NOT the only person having issues with their built engines at this point. At the very least I'd contact them about the failure and see how they handle it. As others have stated, this is putting their stellar reputation in the toilet.
Exactly. Even something like offering to cover labor on an OEM motor install, or anything really to help you as the customer out. I agree w others, please either get a stock motor or kswap. Now is also a great time to just part with the s2000 given used car values, even if you were to sell one without a running motor. Good luck man. I can totally understand if you simply want to move on to something OEM and new to not have to deal with the headache that you have been thru.
150% going to some sort of new/used certified/verified in some way OEM long block.
Really sorry to hear you're having issues again with your motor! It is a really depressing and sobering experience and not something I could imagine happening 3 times. If you're dead set on getting rid of the s2k, just throw a ebay motor in and sell the thing off. Honestly, I think that's what I'd be doing if/when the motor in my car lets go, as it just seems so hard to keep one of these things together if its been built by anyone other than Honda; and even then, there were issues with blowby, oil consumption, ovalized cylinders, thrust bearing issues, and retainers.
I’ve only been reading and not chiming in at all, but we really need to be fair to Inline Pro here. The OP’s first rebuild from IP blew up from poor tuning, which is on the tuner, regardless of what the car owner was told by the engine builder. The tune probably wrecked the original engine too. I’m not trying to defend one side or the other, as I also know the frustrations of built engine problems. I think that Inline Pro should at least have the opportunity to remove and disassemble this engine so they can figure out what happened and make sure it never happens again. Ultimately it’s your car and your money, but this story has been pretty crazy. I definitely don’t wish this situation upon anyone.
