installing 3mm head gasket. new studs?

Get a helms. It is the bible. The proper lube with oem is motor oil.

uhm, anytime you have a low fixed torque spec, and then subsequent "degree" turns, the bolt is a TTY.
The factory head bolts are TTY. thats why honda says use 22 then 2- 1/4 turns, if the bolt has been used once. if new, 3- 1/4 turns. that bolt is being stretched during those 1/4 turns.
The stock bolts have a better expansion rate than do the arp studs. while i like arp studs, and put them on everything, this engine doesnt seem to like them. (not my experience) ive seen several others with odd results. I have to assume operator error during install, but just in case, ive stayed clear of them in my s2k engines.

Well hell. That's what I get for thinking. on S2000 bolts. I've done so many honda heads that I didn't even think about it. My bad.
