The issue with these bolts on the KW kit doesn't seem to be the bolt strength, it is that they loosen up and then break after they backed out a bit. This happened to me after I tightened them so that they "felt tight". At about 1,000 miles two were broken and the third one was loose. The two broken ones had obviously backed out a ways before they broke. I torqued the new ones down with a torque wrench per the Honda spec and have no issues now at 5,000 miles.

If you follow the threads that report broken Vtec bolts on KW kits, this seems to be a common theme.

Another thing ive noticed about that pro bolt website is that they state

"Produced in Grade 5, 6AL-4V Titanium, this material also offers fantastic corrosion resistance and weight saving opportunities. These are approximately 40% lighter than a standard steel bolt, perfect for when every gram counts! Widely used by BSB, WSB & GP race teams."


Grade 5, i understand titanium is strong but id rather have grade 10.

I recently went to the local hardware store and bought 3 black alloy bolts for 13 cents each. and its rated graded 10.

Because im using a skunk2 solenoid, i needed 20mm shorter bolt and ended up getting m6 x 40mm.

whats is the correct torq spec for a M6 like this buy honda ? its 12 lbs ?

Good quality bolt and a touch of loctite blue.

Check on it periodically to see if it's backing out.

I can't see it taking too much spec, 12-15lbs sounds ok but I would confirm with KW isntall sheet or Honda Manual.

Titanium bolts aren't as strong size for size as steel. Don't get suckered in just because they say titanium.

The Honda Manual says that the VTEC bolts should be torqued to 12 Newton meters. That's equal to 8.7 ft lb or 104 in lb.
