Depends on the turbo. 3k is a little early though. Most spool up around 3800 and see full boost around 4500.

Going 85 you would be boosting.
Not true, sure you'll be in the theoretical boost range BUT just cruising your not giving it enough throttle to actually produce boost; you'll still be in negative pressure.

so, i would have stay on the 80 mph range? that way i'm not in boost?
You can go just about whatever speed you want and not be in boost as long as your not flooring it.

DO NOT MAKE FREQUENT PITSTOPS.

A car cools down by the air running through the radiator. When you stop there is no airflow so the heat is absorbed into the engine. If you turn the ignition on a few minutes later you will see the temp has increased (although possibly not with our gauge).

If you drive the car at cruising speed you will have maximum cooling and no more heat generation than stock.

Yup, my water temp gauge will never go over 180F (approx 50 ambient temp) while the car is moving, however once I slow down and stop, it starts nearing 200F.

Please update us. Though I don't see myself making a 2000+ mile try anytime soon, I usually make 12hour trips down to florida.

yup i always thought the same thing till i got the kit in and saw my boost gauge cruising at highway speeds and i was 1/4 throttle seeing i was still in vacumm, then when i nailed it full boost would start to come.

I can't say that I've ever seen my manifold red hot; it is made of cast iron so I'm sure a much higher temp to glow red then, say, stainless steel.
