Default LOUD WHINE sound!

Ok, so we thought it was the diff.. we took it apart, replaced all the bearings inside... and the crush sleeve and nut..

the 4.44s looked fine.. so did everything else..

took it out now, still same thing..

30-40mphs.. when on the gas.. just loud whine.. too loud..

what could it be.. im soo bummed.

thanks

Marc

are you sure it is coming from the diff and not the transmission?

does it matter what gear you are in? or you could be in 2-6th and it will still make the noise at 30-40mph?

I would drive it more and check back in to say if it matters what gear what rpm ect. The diff doesnt know what rpm the engine is so if its rpm then it shouldnt make the diff whine. Once you do that let us know. I deal with a lot of funny noises like this at work as i am a tech for lexus.

what rpm?
what gears?
does it do it in neutral just rolling?
what speeds?
heavy/light load on engine?
coming from center near shifter or rear of car?

start with that. you can answer all those questions on one small road within a matter of 2 minutes of driving it.

If the whole car is shaking then something is probably out of balance.
