Low pressure turbo?
OK. My local SAAB dealer confirms that the current 9 5 SAAB IS the updated version of the former SAAB 900, and it is the 9 3 that shares its body with the former Saturn LS, the Opel Vectra, and the soon to be introduced Cadillac BLS. (What does BLS stand for?). In any event, the SAAB 9 5 IS the "old Swede" of which I spoke. It is the 9 5 that is the non-GM SAAB. And he did confirm that the 9 2 is in fact a Subaru WRX wagon with a SAAB nose grafted on. So, as confirmed, the 9 5 is the only true SAAB left.

Thanks for answering MY questions here. My old Eagle Talon turbo was a '92, and I owned it to '98. I wish I had known that I could have modded it to make the turbo cut in earlier in the rpm range, and more gradually, like the SAAB 9 5 can be made to do. At that time in my life, my attention was drawn away from "modding" by my employer's downsizing, my transitioning into retirement, and my wife's health problems (which are now gone). So the only mods I did to that car were installing a lower shifter knob (to replace that horrible "pistol grip") and new wheels. But if I had gotten any more power out of that FWD car, I probably wouldn't be writing this, as the darn thing tended to chose its own direction of travel even with the engine stock!
Thanks,
Richard
