Need feedback on my SC options
I plan on going FI "soon" but I'm still up in the air on which blower and engine management to go with. My RWHP goal is as close to 400 as possible and there is a substantial difference in price between these options. I have a MY01 and these current parts will stay for the SC: SOS TB, Berk Header (soon PLM), Berk 70mm HFC, and Greddy Ti-c 70mm single, AFR gauge.
Before I cover my options, I keep on reading that it would be a good idea to upgrade the oil jet bolts before going FI. It this truly necessary? I don't plan on tracking the car and will be my DD and some spirited driving here and there, but love going WOT as much as possible within reason.
What about a compression check as well?
Ok, below are my options, and I'm also buying new parts.
Option 1:
KW High Boost Kit tuned w/Greddy EMU
Estimated cost of all parts and labor (excluding tune and clutch) = 7.6k
Pro's - Cheaper, almost hits my goal RWHP of 400 (360-380) out of the box, 10lbs of boost equates to about 11lbs of boost of other centrifugal chargers, a little better under the curve torque, quieter and stealthy, pre-tune only needs to be tweaked for my support mods.
Con's - Limited to 10 lbs of boost, tuning device is Greddy EMU and may have drivability issues, I have to upgrade clutch before install, no early warning of knock, relocation of oil filter and core exchange of belt.
Option 2:
SOS Novi 1200 Blower tuned w/K-Pro
Estimated cost of all parts and labor (excluding tune and clutch) = 10.6k
Pro's - Can easily hit goal of 400 RWHP with 11-12lbs of boost, tuning with K-Pro would be best, I can run base kit on stock clutch, have an upgrade path in which I can pay in stages, knock detection via K-Pro, no relocation of engine components or core exchanges.
Con's - More expensive, need 3 or 4 bar map sensor, noisier, tuning would cost more, may need a tow to the tuner once K-pro is installed (LOL?).
To sum up:
Which of these setups would you run and why for my power goals? Any other pro's and con's for each of the options that I am missing?
Thanks guys!

where are u getting 10k for the SOS stuff? And also on an ap1 I dont think 10psi equals 360-380whp with the kw kit, probably more like 330-350whp. 360whp is for dbw ap2's. But i could be wrong, but I would probably say with your power goals you would benefit from going with SOS because, I just can't see you getting close to 400whp on an ap1 with 10psi.
Goodluck with whatever you decide.

Novi 1200 kit + install labor
upgraded head exchanger
self lube oil option
walbro 255 fuel pump
injector dynamics 725cc
BkR8EIX
K-Pro + install labor
boost gauge
dual gauge pod
Based on all of the AP1 KW dyno's I ran across, they are around 360-380, and this was on dynojet. Actually the highest AP1 dyno was 377 or 379, I forget. Remember the RWHP is including all support mods.
Thanks man! I agree with you and I'm leaning towards SOS because of the better tuning device and staged pricing.
Alright I got you, I wasn't aware of the kw ap1's putting down that much power. I was merely going by kw's website and the "stock" ap1 put down around 330whp, so yea with other supporting mods I can see another 30-40whp being possible.
I no longer have an S anymore
but I had a stock ap1, and a really nice local let me drive his kw ap2, and lets just say if I would have had the money sitting in my acct kw would have had a new customer that day. And I didnt even redline it, took it to maybe 6.5-7k. Unfortunately I never got to drive or even ride in a centrifugal set-up i.e. comptech/vortech/sos, so I can't comment on those. But I was impressed by the delivery and stealthness of the kw kit, but the 10psi cap really makes the decision tough. If it was the c38 rotrex that could easily push enough air to get to 400-450whp then it would be no contest imho. But unfortunately it just didn't work out that way.

Plan on getting an S again? It's funny that you drove a KW car because I actually rode in one. It was a demo ride from an official local installer of the kit Mr. Honda, or John Blake. Real nice guy. I was ****** blown away by the acceleration on it, it felt like I was in a Vette! His dynojet numbers were actually in the low to mid 380's RWHP. I was hooked ever since.
As far as other centrifugal set-ups, I was told that the Novi 1200 really shines at 10 psi+ as far as more power under the curve, but I don't know if it feels any different than a KW setup.
You bring up a good point with the C-38 as well. I know TTS makes a kit, but I really haven't priced any of that out. You got me thinking on this....LOL!
Yea the KW kit was definitely top notch imo, it had plenty of midrange for me and the car that I drove was completely stock outside of the kit, and I could faintly hear the blower but it was pretty weird pushing the "go" pedal and feeling the S with that much pull. Pretty intoxicating to say the least.
Well I am actually a college student, and I was making payments on the S while I was going to a community college, but once I got accepted into U. miami and was entering in engineering, I knew there was no way I could afford to keep the car so I was forced to sell it. So as of now I am relying on public transportation to get around down here in miami, which isn't ideal for me because I just have such a passion for cars and driving, but I had to make the necessary sacrifices for the long haul. lol sorry for the rant but yes I do plan on getting back into an S as that has been my "realistic" dream car since 2000.
And oops sorry didn't mean to throw 'more' options at you lol. but either way you can't lose imo.

LOL! No problem man. I did some quick research and that TTS is a tad over priced and doesn't include engine management. Plus I would imagine shipping would be more since they are over seas.
Ah ok, so it sounds like you will soon enough be an engineer building a monster S.
Good luck bro!
