Just sharing my story which lasted about 9months until final solution:

I had a lot of problems with vtec transition during tuning. There was a lot of pop/farting and drop in power. 3 tuners from completely different shops had a crack at it. One said...misfiring, the other said vtec solenoid is bad. Finally, in the end an expert was called in (Mike from OSTdyno), changed the plugs to NGK BKR8EIX, gapped the Iridiums to 0.023", set the vtec at 7k rpm and adjusted the fuel maps for the high cam - 3hrs done!

Before any of that I heard my engine was toast etc. Leak down tests, compression test and even removing the heads proved the engine was in perfect condition. Right now it runs better than ever - Hondata Kpro III, Inline pro stage 1 w/log style manifold.

That sounds like it just took 3 tries to find a competent tuner, glad you got it worked out

I have 10.5:1 now with your pistons and the machined head but would be great if they made a stock compression piston since a lot of people here like to run high comp.

Real men run 2.0. Most of us do. BTW, were did you post the sponsor stuff? Here in FI?

philistine: Will try 8´s, used them on my own car and everything worked perfect from start. Thanks.

Did a compression test and got numbers good enough for a new engine. Do you guys know if they show good compression even if the ring lands are bad?

I would say if a leak down test looks good then I would run it at least you will know if the pistons are scuffed or rings bad see if you can pickup a bore scope I have one Milwaukee makes has lcd screen with a camera that has attachment's to look at the combustion chambers. what were the compression test numbers? I take it you had the throttle open fuel pump fuse pulled good luck to you let us know

No leak down stuff around right now but made 230psi on all four with a brand new compression tester and checked it with camera a few days ago, can´t see anything wrong. Tested with both closed and open throttle, same numbers.

Changed to NGK 8´s and coils from my own car and it ran a bit better but still problems at VTEC point.
Since she only gives me problems at VTEC she´s fast up to 7000rpm, maybe a good idea to set the rev limit there as well?

Unbolt the exhaust and take the air filter off and see what happens
