I'm also very interested in this discussion.

The gearbox on the S2000 is actually a wonderful piece of equipment. It's recently been voted the best gearbox ever by Evo magazine so the idea of swapping it out for a Supra transmission seems at best, wasteful.

Is there not a tried and tested solution where gears are replaced/uprated with billet items that are cryo'd and shot peened? That way we can keep one of the greatest elements of the car.

Usually with S2k's, the cost of uprating the OEM components is out-weighed by simpler off-the-shelf solutions. Supra transmissions and Ford 8.8 diffs are a good example. However there are numerous disadvantages to those solutions.

Can we not find a solution to simply uprating the original equipment?

I've given this a lot of thought, but no actual research to back this up with. if the case is weak, Then buy a new one from Honda. Have the case and gearsets cryo'd. After a certain number of miles, do the whole process again.
