I wondered that too. Not sure there's an easy way to find out though. They didn't happen to provide you a preload force rating or something easy, did they?

Regardless of the reason, I'm sorry to hear that happened--it sounds like it was a mess and it will cost quite a bit to fix correctly.

It seems like many of the Honda parts operate on a safety factor of 2 or slightly better. It appears OJ went with a less conservative number, ie 1.5 or something, and several owners have now pushed it over the edge and broken pulleys. I wonder how few/many of them were using the kit as delivered vs with slight modifications that increase the loading on the pulleys.

Where's Goddard now? I'd bet he'd enjoy reading these threads, as this (the pulleys being undersized) is something he was preaching for quite a while.
Goddard still has his arm up the butts of a few posters here. The irony is that he's *still* "improving" his kit.

Seems like the kw kit has had alot of problem. To the people that are using another tensioner I assume youre doing this because the original tensioner either broke or was not capable? So even if the new tensioner is causing problems with the kw kit isnt this to fix another problem that the kw kit came up with? I also love how kw didnt offer up to replace the pulley and then came on the forum crying his story. Raise of hands who has a damaged pulley 8 people raise their hands ok who has a kw kit 8 people raise their hands again. I do think I remember the na guy that broke his water pump pulley didnt he run into a tree at 50 mph to break it?

As far as goddard goes ya funny how he ended up being right isnt it? Looks like all he did was talk about the kw flaws while everyone else kissed kw's ass. Seems like he pissed the wrong mod off. Didnt he get banned for it unless I missed some really good threads that the admin deleted before I got to see them?

I'm going to suggest switching to English in the future. You're wrong on so many points it isn't worth responding to.

Goddard was about as wrong as it gets, from overspinning the blower to the OEM tensioner being a better idea. Shadetree hack "engineering" only gets you so far.

Youre so obviously a fan boy it isnt worth responding to you.

You guys should bicker in PM's and let this thread stay on topic.

No doubt the different style tensioners probably do place different loads on the pulleys, but I think we've seen failures with both now, haven't we?

I don't normally travel any long distances, but if I plan any road trips I'll certainly be bringing an extra wp pulley with me.

Goddard being socially inept and you being borderline illiterate doesn't make me a fanboy.

But you did reply. And didnt bother to counter or explain.

I'm not a KW owner (thank god), but there are obviously issues going on. The member that got banned had some good points, and seemed knowledgeable about the car & kit. He was not my idea of a shadetree hack guy. Unfortunately there are business aspects to these forums and he obviously cut into that.

Goddard didn't get banned for his crap about KW. He managed to screw up in a whole new way here on the boards that I won't discuss.

He was correct about a few things though. Yes, the blower is over spun; barely. But is it enough to kill it? Probably not. I tend to agree with some of his analysis about the pulleys used and the tensioner, though it is probably not as dire as he made it out.

Goddard was a self serving individual with grandiose notions of himself. He wanted everyone patting him on the back and telling him how wonderful he was.... He wanted to be the next Xviper (not necessarily a good thing). Frankly I'm happy they banned him. He got banned at a different s2k site as well.

I've said bad things about KW in a few threads on here, but I still think it'll get straightened out. I REALLY believe that OJR wants solve whatever problem their MAY be in the kit. If they ever do figure out why some these problems occur I'll probably end up with their kit. Well, providing they figure it out before I'm ready to buy, otherwise it'll be SOS or maybe even Mase's kit if he ever gets the DBW car going.

It'll probably end up being something stupid in the end, like using different bolts or improperly torqued nuts or who the hell knows what.

Goddard was actually PMing me for technical info regarding FI kits. All he knew were pulleys, and we can see how far that got him.

Ok I'm confused, isn't the stock pulley on the rotrex for the AP2 100mm, and the AP1 is 110mm?

Just so my facts are straight, Juntuned the way I have read it, is using a 95mm pulley?
Is he also using the gates tensioner and not the dayco?
His w/p pulley is the stock OEM one?
How much power is his kit putting out?
How much boost and torque is he getting?
What year is his car?
And his setup since it was tuned by mase I presume it it a YouTune kit?
