Your second failure was probably an air bubble in the coolant. Probably didn't bleed the system when you replaced that hose?

Either way it sucks rocks. I don't know what OJR was talking about, I've NEVER heard of the stock water pump pulley failing on stock, or even with any other SC'r kit. If it had happened I'm sure it would be on this site somewhere.
w/ this comment if you didnt bleed the system

Sorry about your misfortune tho

That gasket doesn't look like it melted, it looks like it caught on fire.

Yes they were..
seriously the hondata gaskets suck! Im sure there is a meterial out there that has a higher heat barrier than what hondata uses. mark that down for something else to FAB up... an actuall "heat resistant" gasket that truly works. The idea of a heat barrier is a must but one that MELTS??? hahaha good lord. Im sure mine looks like a melted marshmallow.

GMK, thats a valid point about the battery light coming on. I guess it just wasnt enough to catch my attention, I was in heavy traffic.

Im curious about all the possible heat related damage that can result from this issue.... warpage, melting gaskets?..... how do the cylinders, pistons, valvetrain, etc all respond to overheating? anyone have any ideas?

Oh man, Now I feel like a total A-Hole, I seen you on the fwy. Well I seen the top of your car. I called S2khabitat that was following and asked him is that was a S2000 broken down in that weird carpool/fasttrack lane. He said he didn't see anyone so we kept going.

I feel really bad leaving you behind. (yes yes, enter the obligatory "leaving your behind joke")

At least I offered my pulley
Damn I feel bad now, I didnt see him.

Sorry to hear that happened to you Jack. You think OJR would step up and accept responsibilty of the water pump pulley failure since its only happened with their kits. I have never heard of any comptech or vortech cars breaking the pulley.

You can always pull the head and see how everything looks. Would be a good time to dump the KW kit and go turbo.

It already failed on me..

What kind of W/P pulley is that it doesnt look the same as the one that came with my car when I bought it?

Here is a picture of mine did Honda change there W/P pulley in the last 3 yrs?

I also ran a little FEA to see the stress points on these W/P pulleys. Thicker would help or maybe just a stronger material the stock material appears to be Magnetic, ruling out Aluminum. In your pictures since the Mounting holes are really close to the venting/tool holes its probally why it failed.

[QUOTE=camuman,Jul 28 2009, 05:12 PM] it doesnt help now, but a serial gauge woulda been perfect, or even the modifry aem ems temp gauge fix.
