Planning to boost, 6266mm turbo
So a good friend of mine had a 6266 precision turbo in his mk4 supra and went onto a bigger turbo, so he is handing the 6266 towards me!!! Wasn't really planning on boosting my 04 s2000 since it's my daily, but hey you can't say no to a free turbo
.. So my question for you guys is.. Will i need to rebuild my trans and diff or can it hold stock? I'm aware I am going to need aem engine management system, to tune the car. But what else would I need (sorry im a noob)? What are common problems to boosted s2000s? What is the budget towards a boosted s2000 jw?
Thanks a lot guys,
still trying to learn

So...aside from the very accurate jokes made above, if the turbo is the only item youre receiving, you will need Everything else.
I would suggest for you to buy a full kit, probably from ptuning since theyre currently active and selling kits at this time. You might even be able to buy their kit minus the cost of a new turbo (pm them).
This way, youll have all the parts needed to install a complete kit. I would highly discourage you to piece together a kit especially if you dont have advanced knowledge of how turbos work. There are lots of little pieces like fittings, and hoses, and coolant/oil/air lines, metal work, flanges, and different sizes available to all these parts, etc etc that will pose many challenges to you esp with lack of experience.
Sadly nothing in life is free and most likely youll get a better deal out of buying a brand new kit and selling the turbo you got for free.
As for the engine, diff, tranny, as long as its healthy keep it stock. Theres really no need to upgrade these parts unless something fails or you have dispendable income. You gotta pay to play. Good luck.

If you are going to boost your car the first thing you need to do is decide on HP goals.
From there you can plan out your build and decide if that turbo is even right for you. The 6266 is a rather large turbo and will lack the low end response that a smaller turbo will have.
Transmission and diff dependability will depend on your driving habits and whp/torque. Trans and diff upgrades are $$$$. A used upgraded diff will "start" around $1500 and transmission around $3000.
Try and go with a log type manifold if you can. Sidewinder manifolds look nice but there are some issues with them like melting the wires after the coil packs and other small tid bits that would be easier to avoid by just going log. Colorado Race Fab also has a stock bottom end S2000 with a Pfab log manifold making 922whp.

Budget is what you make it. It depends on how well you shop, if you only want new parts, and the quality of the parts. Don't get caught up in the hype that XYZ turbo kit is the best. Majority of kits use the same parts and the only BIG difference is construction quality and fitment. The only kit on the market that I would consider "different" is Ptuning's and only because their kits include a scavenger pump. To give you an idea I made 500+whp on a $3000 complete turbo kit build last year. That included manifold, downpipe, wastegates, bov, piping, intercooler, ID1000's, walbro 450, BW S366, and AEM V2. My new kit I have that more that that invested in just the turbo, manifold, downpipe, and recirculating dumptube.

I was also on a budget too anticipating to only spend around $3k, saving and piecing together parts for 3years. But after parts, install, tune, problems, more parts, rewelds, shipping costs, etc etc im now over $10k on my build. Thats including clutch, tct, valvetrain upgrades, etc on top of just the turbo stuff. Plus, i did all the install myself saving me a ton on labor. This game isnt cheap, especially if you want everything to run right and last long. But even then, things can be unpredictable.
