Default Routing wastegate dump tube to DP

Hey guys,

I have an inline pro kit with turbo smart 38mm waste gate and I would like to hear my turbo spool more then the dump of the waste gate. What is the best modus operandi? How much does getting you dump tube welded into the dp cost? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It varies from area to area. You will just have to take the car down and show a local welder what you want done... Let him know that you would be willing to put the car on stands for him (assuming you have a jack and stands you can bring to the shop when it gets done), so he does not include that time in his estimate.

Not sure about how much power you would lose, but you would definitely run the risk of your boost spiking/creeping more... The dump of an internal WG sometimes "pulls" on the turbine a bit, creating a bit of a boost creep. That is the biggest advantage to external WG, IMO... the lack of boost creep (or relative lack when compared to an internally gated setup).

OK, well sounds as if ill keep it vented to atmosphere(thanks for the response).

Do they make a muffler or anything? I'm guessing a muffler would cause back pressure so that's not good. O well I just miss the sound of my turbo spooling(my s4 w/ ko4's you could hear those baby's spool) . The Waste gate is just so damn loud! (in a good way i guess because when you hear that you know the fun is coming!)

I'm new to the Atlanta area where does everyone meet? I live in Buck Head

I don't think he's thinking of internally gating the turbo. I think he just wants to re-route his EXTERNAL wastegate to dump back to the downpipe....

Get a really good shop, and you can have it both - quiet stealth and reasonable flow.

I had some minor boost spike on a previous design that didnt' get as parallel as I wanted to the flow, but Chris at Boost Logic in Austin TX absolutely put in the attached artwork. Yes, that's a flex joint attached to the wastegate, similar to the downpipe. NO VIBES. Fits perfectly. Awesome work.

Also, check with Andris Laivins at Laivins Race Cars (he works with the Tri-Point Engineering team as contract also -- super, super meticulous.

that looks really nice. i had my miata re-routed back in as well and it sounded so much better. I thought about doing this with the s but dont wanna lose too much power. As long as its farther down the downpipe and merges back into flow like santaur's it shouldnt really hurt performance.
