I went with All Supertech Stuff, the Inconel Exhuast valves saved my ass, I am pretty sure if it was stock when I had my manifold glowing for a solid two minutes I would have warped em, those lil bastards held strong

Also, I know you know your shit, and I am by no means trying to educate you, but you pushed the motor on METH and it popped the motor, why would you want to run this motor up to 9,000RPMS with 600+ hp?

I agree with taller gears. Thats always the best solution for more power, USE the power to your advantage.
1 less shift and more time in the meat of the band, youll go faster for sure.

^ The crappy thing about longer gears is more stress on the drivetrain parts (or so I hear?)

Where did you get your stuff Joey?

From what I can see from the gear calculator, the biggest difference is the "reduction gear" in the Ap1 trans, seems the actual gear ratios between the 2 are the same, sans 4th/5th gear, but for the most part identical.

W/that said, the added redline helped gain a good bit of mph.

I'm going to get it some sort of valvetrain, b/c 2step/anti-lag on the track is hell on a head to behind with.

As for reving it out, why not? It's power there? It's not going to be a daily thing, my Si (which was a 1.6) reved out to 9k, cousin reved it out to 9500, which was a semi-built block/head. Now it's hitting 10k+ on a fully built setup. Yes I understand the rod/stroke ration was far less than a 2.2 is, but I still think it's reasonable.

I don't see any reason it can't handle it w/the right parts. For track use. Besides a little added insurance against over-rev/etc is always nice.

stock valves will usually make more power.. IMHO unless they are messed up there isnt really a need to replace them. If you do replace the valves dont go cheap.. get the GOOD ferrea's. There are cheap ones and good ones.

I have been turning my motor 9300 rpms for 11k miles now.. It sees 9000+ probably 10 times a day ... at least.

I wouldnt rev stock f22 rods to 9500 rpms, but if you have aftermarket forged rods its not going to be a problem.

Well, I wanted to see the price difference with valves/vs w/o. If it's NOT a huge difference, I'd go ahead and pick them up.

Regardless, I'm getting some valvesprings/retainers.

I'm on Carillo's, I think they will take the spinning.

I compared Ferrea's to Supertech's on my ported head and the Ferrea's flowed better by about 1%. Twice the price for a few CFM.

its not about the flow w/ferrea vs supertech.. every time the question has come up with anyone i have ever used for head work they say the good ferrea's are worth the price when it comes to reliability. These motors have "small" valve stems so a good valve is very necessary.

good choice on the carillo's

Agreed, I've seen it first hand. Over the weekend the SF team dropped a valve, and instead of it breaking into 1000 pieces and compltely destroying the motor, it only bent.

They swapped valves, and still ran 8 sec passes. To me thats worth it's weight in gold.

I asked them why not supertech, and they said they have seen them break, well I'm a believer.
