If your replacing the valves, i would HIGHLY suggest doing a valve job. Cut the seats so its a clean fresh surface and then grind the new valves to exactly match the angles on the seats makes a big difference IMO

I work at a machine shop, and on one of my personal heads i was building one time i put brand new Ferrea valves in just to see how well they sealed- put a vacuum pump on it and it pumped up to about 10-12 lbs. and leaked off pretty quick. After machining the seats & valves, like always, pumps up to 20-30 lbs. and stays there
Your probably right, nobody around me I trust touching the head.

The Ferrea Competition Plus valves will be the best on the market. they also offer two types of springs for our cars. They have the beehive spring and the standard dual spring.

Let us know if you need any help pricing that we are direct with them.

Yes a valve job should be standard procedure when doing valves

Check my IP build in my sig and you will see the head on my car. There are also the several head builds I have done with Supertech but I was VERY happy with the Ferrea parts.

I went ahead and got this.

Ferrea Competition Plus Standard Size Valves
Supertech Dual Valve spring(100lb), Titanium Retainers, Spring Seats, Valve Locks

I think that will do me. I am going to try and get the head pulled apart this weekend, and should have the parts end of next week, so I can get assembled and finish up the motor.

When I did my first I had the surface decked, valve job, IP springs and retainers, Ferrea Valves, Vavle Seals, hot tank, bead blast, gasket matched the intake and exhaust, deburred the runners, closed off the secondary air injection ports, had the cam bearing checked. The one thing I should have done that I did not do is replace the valve guides.

I would have to guess that the entire labor bill was around $600 but that has been some time ago.
