Default some questions about supercharger

Hey guys, well i'm looking at modding my AP1 and i know the only way to get real gains out of the motor is with FI, so i'm thinking about going with the comptech supercharger. So my questions are, how much of a gain can i expect? i know they advertise gaining like 90-100rwhp, but is that accurate? How long of an install is it? i know that kit is completely bolt on but how long did it take you guys to install it? and lastly, i use my S as a daily driver most of the time, how does something like a supercharger effect the drivability of the S. i'm sure the gas milage will go down a bit, but what about other aspects?? thanks for the help guys.

Depending on the mood everyone in here is in..prepare for some kirk outs, lol...

Each and every one of the questions you asked is EASILY answered by searching or even browsing for like 15 mins.

I personally don't have a supercharger, but from what limited knowledge I have of superchargers, the 90-100 hp gain is somewhat accurate. I believe most people that keep the stock kit get around 300 whp. I don't know anything about the install procedure.

As far as driveability, again, I don't speak from experience, just from stuff I've read on here, it doesn't affect the driveability at all. It retains the linear power curve that the stock car has because of the supercharger design. You don't really get the full power until almost at redline. It just feels stronger through the rpms.

With that said...go search and browse.

It's your first day on the forum...no problem.

Seriously though, there are probably 100 threads that discuss your very questions. You could spend two days looking through all of the threads you find after searching for "Comptech Supercharger". There is so much information here it's rediculous.

P.S. Look up BRP supercharger and you might change your outlook on the Comptech altogether

1. Dynos for the AP1 show between 280 and 300 hp.
2. Install on a Comptech Kit is 6-8 hours without the aftercooler and 8-10 hours with the aftercooler. (first time) I've installed close to 10 kits now and have got it down to less than 8 hours for the SC w/AC.
3. I used my S as a daily driver when it was FI. You will lose about 3-5 miles per gallon depending on how you drive.

Bottom line is that the Comptech kit has proven reliability...as with the Vortech. Both have CARB EO#'s and there are many owners who use their FI cars for DD. Stay with stock boost and you will be fine for a long time.

No "disadvantage". You may have slightly lower hp numbers. The aftercooler upgrade merely lowers the temp which means a safer setup. With stock boost the aftercoolers gains are there but minimal. At higher than stock boost levels it is highly recommended.

I never went above stock boost.....but I purchased the aftercooler simply for asthetics in the engine bay.

I have a vortech and the car is relatively tame till you get the rpm up then it's a different car alltogther. gas mileage does go down, i'd have to say it's closer to 5mpg you lose.I went with the S/C rather then turbo for daily driving and reliability issues

Peace

Don't expect much change in power until vtec. In my car when i hit vtec i gain around 50 rwhp (compared to before vtec not before SCed).
