And your point is? If I wanted to make more power I would have went turbo again. I was going to go inlinepro but I have heard not so very good things.
find a new tuner....
ok heres my take on what hes doing
he lowered the compression and ran higher boost so that he could break the 400whp barrier. than he got it tuned so that NOTHING is risking failure... kind of like revving a engine.. you can make it shift @ redline or above OR you could shift early.. HE is shifting early
besides, 400whp is more than enough for the streets of milwaukee lol
rather than bashing him or saying "shoulda woulda coulda" lets just congradulate him on his build that HE is CONTENT with.. besides, its his car. why should he change something he's happy with just b/c someone else thinks it could be better/different?
anywayz, congrats!!

You need to stop being an asshat towards 518135s numbers and setup. I think its pretty obvious that you do not know enough about supercharged S2000s to even comment. (I can even quote you admitting that you are a noob about this subject). Its also very obvious with your thread about buying a Vortec kit, i read it all.
King Motorsports has a VERY good AEM Certified Tuner who is very helpful and knowledgeable. Just because the numbers MIGHT seem low doesn't mean its a bad tuner, every car is different. Like I said before, on my car I have what I like to call high numbers for a measly 8.6psi on a 100% stock F20C so I have complete faith in King Motorsports, and so does the rest of the Midwest area. Tim and Mike at King even said that if they threw a little more timing into the car it would make some more power, but at what cost?! Here in Wisconsin we like to drive our cars worry free, not sure about you.
If 518135 really wanted to increase power he could get a nice header, upgrade his fuel line to a bigger diameter to handle the 750s, and install upgraded valvetrain so he can actually rev high enough SAFELY and squeeze out some more power out of the underdog 2.0L. But again, at what cost. Is it really worth driving to a tuner out of state for a few more ponies that you will most likely not notice? King Motorpsorts is a mere 15 minutes away for both of us and not to be cocky or to start a "whose shop is better war," but King has been around longer than most shops and not to mention I see their name on more occasions than I do any other shop.
Its clear that 518135 is happy with his 408whp at 8,800 RPM...So leave him alone already.
Best of luck on your build.
Well it does seem a little low, but since you wanted it tuned that way then that explains it. I guess you have the option to tune for more power if you want it so
Not sure a header will make that much difference really. For the time, expense and effort to install, you could get more power but adjusting tune, or have a 100 octane tune you can switch to when needed since rainh8r said you will have a 55 gallon drum ready to go.
Great numbers and I am sure there are a lot of SC guys that would be proud to be at that number on a "stock" compression car, myself included. ( I know you are lower compression) Post up some vids when you get a chance like CROD.
Congrats on build...

Are the AFRS good or is this thing running pig rich?

agreed, neither the SC kit or aem is or the built motor is being used to 70 percet is not less of its potential..

That said, it looks like a nice, safe tune, which is more than I can say for a lot of cars.
Nice numbers, I bet the car pulls hard. As long as you're happy with the power that's all that matters.
However, the reason he's not making more power is heat. It's not the aftercooler, it's the blower. That blower is not the best match for a 2.0L or a 2.2L. It moves a lot of air very quickly. I bet the IAT are really high @ 18PSI and the tuner couldn't add any more timing safely on 93 octane. If you were to look at the compressor map for a NOVI 1200 I bet his blower is operating very close to the surge line if not on it. I've seen this before on 350Zs. Guys were swapping out the VT SCi-Trim for the Si-Trim (NOVI 1200 is a VT Si). At higher boost levels the IAT shot up and they couldn't make the power they wanted on pump gas. VT knows this, and that's why the S2000 kits and 350Z/G35 kits come with the SCi-Trim over the Si-Trim.

Wait, the Vortech Si trim is a Novi 1200?
(runs off to do some googling)
Ok, wow, that was enlightening. I had no idea, I really though they were 2 different things all this time. So, if the blower is the same, why so many comptech vs vortech threads all these years? Even now, there is always an X vs Y thread up somewhere. And the SOS is just another one of these same blowers too right?
Except I've also always heard the VT kit is capable of more boost and greater expandability. Why is that if they are all the same?
I'm just learning this stuff, so please forgive my ignorance. I also don't know what the difference is between these "trims" and will go try to learn that now.
You mention that this blower isn't a good match for a 2.0 liter. What would be a better match and why?
Thanks much,
J
