Come on man...statements like this are not really helpful. If our SOS kits had problems, sure there would be a hater or two chiming in but a lot of the folks posting about the KW kit or running the KW kit themselves are knowledgeable and contributing members of this forum and they would come to our aid. Its no good to make them feel worse or more anxious; we should all complain to KW instead. Wish Kw would post more often and be more involved in this process.

The reason you are encouraged to shave the rack is more for installing the belt. The cogged belt on the Kraftwerks kits wider than needed so the belt will not be too close to the edge and cause damage.
I like the cogged belt as it requires less belt tension and causes less less side load on the pulleys including the Crank shaft.
Most aftermarket parts do require some kind of trimming somewhere.

Habit, here are some pics I took of my crank pulley and the rack. Looking at the crank pulley itself, I only saw a few little silver marks along the outer part of it. So I am guessing that this didn't make full contact with the rack when the belt broke. That bolt looks like it has been shaved some on my car as well. Now I'm not sure if the shop did it during the install or if at some point the crank pulley actually contacted it. Since I had that bolt break initially, all new pulleys were sent to me. So maybe when that bolt broke the old crank pulley contacted the rack. I also included one to show that I guess I am missing part of the under body plastics.

Missing plastic piece:

I agree, it was a useless post but everyone is allowed at least one out of hundred right?

I just don't believe in irreversible modifications to the car. I would not have even contemplated buying the SOS kit if I knew that you had to modify the steering rack, but hey, that's just me.

I hope you guys can get all these problems sorted out

Mine hit A lot more than that and did not affect my belt ...and the belt is a good amount away from the pulley edge ..my feeling is pre damaged belt

Yeah I'm thinking so too Chef. When watching the engine run and even in the pics I posted, my belt is perfectly center on the crank pulley, so even if it were to have touched that steering rack bolt, I doubt the belt would have made contact with anything.

I should also note that I did receive the package KW sent on Wednesday morning and when I opened the box, much to my surprise, they included 2 belts instead of just sending one. So I was actually very happy to see that.

Many of us haven't had to. I have more clearance than he does, without any modification.
