Bmore, I'll have to take a closer look into that over the weekend. I wouldn't call it a hard stop per se. I just kinda tapped the brakes harder than normal and for less than a second. I didn't hear any abnormal sounds or anything when I did that l, but I guess it could always be a possibility.

It will be pretty obvious if there was contact, I would expect a significant mark around much of the perimeter of the pulley, as well as a mark on the rack.

The under tray extends back to about the steering rack, we'll past the radiator fans, so it sounds like part of your guard is missing. I think debris is a very likely explanation here. Good of kw to send a new belt no questions asked.

Could you try to upload a pic of the mark on the crank pulley?

For those having issues or not installing their Kraftwerks kit. Call us . We just installed and tuned our 17th Kraftwerks kit on an S2000 just last week.

I think to make the kit more "User friendly" they may want to use an auto tensioner, We have only shredded one belt that turned out to be too loose. Also we have found some of the pulleys are reversed in the kit and would not turn smooth when tight. Always check the smooth operation of the pulley once it's tight before installing the belt.
We have one customer with 32K miles on since installing the kit, He's smoked 2 sets of rear tires and one transmission as he's very hard on the car.

You're with LHT, right? Thanks for stopping in.

Could you share with us any failures you've had on these kits aa far as broken vtec solenoid bolts and broken rotrex hub bolts as well? Lots of noise about these issues lately, and I for one don't think they're nearly as widespread as they're made out to be.

Also, how do you all set belt tension?

Megan motor mounts are a must buy with this kit if you want it right .. My crank hit too ..

Billman installed my kit and it's the only one he has installed .. So those problems that he's talkin about are mine ...

Broke pulley bolt
Backed out bracket bolt on intake side
Crank hitting rack
Oil exploding at track
Cooling issues ( make sure you have a clear ac condesor)
And to mention the wack instructions .. Bill did a lot of his custom work to make sure it was right while installing .. Things you won't know by reading instructions ..
Bill also comments on the design .. He says there is too much stress on the bolt on intake manifold .. There should be two connections for that point .. Also check how deep the threads go cause he added a longer stronger bolt to catch more threads .. And with bills experience as a machinist I trust that he can look at this kit and tell me where it needs help .. Just as I can tell you a steak is rare with out cutting it ..

Now if I had to pay bill for the after math work of changing 3 blowers and checking my car every time I had a problem id be over sos kits price by a lot... Bill also mentions that he has installed like 25 comptech and sos kits and can't remember who they were cause they have not been bak with problems!
But on the flip side I know this kit like the back of my hand now .. Which is good cause it's always something so far .. But let's see ..

Bottom line I love the power but if I can travel back in time to a better place when I can take the car cross country with out a hesitation I would have bought a sos kit .. Just for the reliability and track testing .. But who knows how that would have went ..

And if I get more problems I'd most likely sell the kit just to get out of it .. That's If anyone will buy it .. .. I do feel that we have learned a lot about this kit .. But is it all fixable I dunno

I bet that after all these problems sales from s2ki members have dropped on that kit ..

Yes , I'm with LHT. I think I can safely say we've installed and tuned more KW kits than anybody. If they had problems I would sell them.

Call me, I will be happy to give you some tips. We're crazy busy but I will help if I can.

Habit, yeah I am definitely missing the back part of the guard under the car then since I can see the ground right where the radiator fans are. I will try to get a pic of the crank pulley this weekend for you.

Chefs, I have Hasport 62a motor mounts in my car now. Maybe I should have mentioned this before as well....when I originally had the kit installed I was told that my stock motor mounts would need to be replaced soon. While on the dyno and the hub adapter bolt broke, I figured while the car was down I would have the shop do the motor mounts as well. Come to find out both stock motor mounts were basically ripped in half. So possibly that is when the crank hit the rack causing that knick? Maybe that knick was always there and the shop didn't notice that when doing the mounts, but saw it now while inspecting what could have caused the belt to break?

If it is nicked all around at the front, it has hit the steering rack. The broken motor mounts may have caused this. To check that it is not happening any more, put a dab of paint on the steering rack bolt closest to the pulley. Then watch to see if the paint gets rubbed off after you brake hard. If it does, file the bolt down a bit like the TTS instructions say.
