Check the cover for the pulleys. It sits pretty close to the 2 top pulleys.

If it's worth anything; I've had those same VTEC mounting bolts snap on me (well, one of them anyway) on an SOS Stage 2. I had to buy new bolts through the Honda Motorcycles department and they're fine now

The amount of torque I put on the bolt that snapped was minimal, I was very shocked to see that it had snapped. I learnt from my lesson and used a 8-24 Nm 1/4" torque wrench the next time around.

Also there is an old thread/poll about the vortech kit causing the same issue for a lot of owners.

I'll be ordering the Ti bolts and use safety wire like rain h8r suggested.

My VTEC bolts also backed out and then the front two broke. This happened at about 500 miles. Like Rain, I typically don't use a torque wrench for this size bolt but usually overtighten them by feel. I got replacement bolts and a gasket from KW, and this time used a torque wrench to tighten them to the Honda spec which is 12 N-m. (12 N-m is 8.85 ft-lb.). I now have 1200 miles with no other issues but I have not yet tracked the car with this kit either.

I wonder if any of these VETC bolts have come loose after being tightened with a torque wrench.

It seems to me that a simple solution would be to use loktite on them. The problem does not seem to be that the bracket is not strong enough or that the bolts aren't strong enough, it seems that the problem is that the bolts vibrate loose on some cars.

I had the same thing happen to me as well. I had removed the kit a few times and on the very last time i was involved in an front end accident with the kit and was removing from car to car. Upon reinstall I snapped the bolt. I was lucky enough to have them snap and twist near the head. I didnt have to drill and tap to remove and replace. I ordered the bolts though amazon prime and they were listed under honda marine. I pulled the part number right off the package that SOS sent them in originally.

I also want to add that i track my SOS kit regularly and never had this happen until i crashed. SOS mounting brackets have rubber isolaters that help dampen vibration. Does the KW have any dampening?

No matter what pump you run I would upgrade the wiring with the SOS kit. It's cheap enough that everyone should do it.

Also I'm selling my grams pump and using either a FB or AEM. Their cheap.

Do it right the first time and you'll have less issues/things to worry about.

For my '06, the fuel pump in the KW kit was a direct replacement that used the same electrical plugs. No rewiring or modifications required.

Just a little update. The car was inspected today and all of the pulleys were fine and intact. The supercharger was also spinning freely. CJ promptly responded to my email this morning and they are shipping out a new belt.

Are your plastics underneath still in tact? Could debris have gotten into the belt? Seems awfully random. Glad to hear the rest of the hardware is ok though!
