4) Usage - I do not daily drive, it barely sees 2,000 miles in a year. I track the car occasionally. I drive the Dragon once a year minimum, and this is the playground I am focused on. I do not drag race, and have zero intention of it in the future (except maybe once to qualify the car's performance).
5) Performance - As I said I do not drag race, and am not looking for a crazy high HP number. But the car could certainly do with more power. I'm just as interested in filling out the mid-range power band as I am the peak HP.
6) Reversibility - Not crucial, but I like the idea of being able to remove everything and go back to stock. i.e. not having to add oil lines, relocate things, etc

I'm running the SOS kit with the Novi 1200 @ 15.5 psi. It really transformed the car. On a two-lane road, I can wait behind a semi @ 50mph until we reach a passing zone, drop into 3rd and stomp it, and the car just hurls itself forward. It feels like maybe 2-3 seconds and I'm at the top of 3rd, already next to the cab of the semi, and shifting into 4th (though I'm already moving so fast I could just coast by). A second later and I'm past him, starting to get back over into my lane. There's no time to look at the tach since I'm watching for oncoming traffic and it all happens so fast. This ain't no little Honda anymore! It's completely unlike anything a NA S2000 can do. The best word to describe the experience is "violent".
So, the top end power is just awesome. Based on my test drives, I'd say it's faster than an LS2 'Vette and maybe comparable to an LS3. Midrange is solid as long as you lower VTEC. That makes a huge difference. I've got mine at 4,500rpm right now and I'm moving it down to 3,000rpm with my next tune. Low end is noticeably better than stock (translation: the car never feels slow anymore) but isn't awesome. I'm hoping dropping VTEC lower will help that a bit.
The Novi 1200 makes a lot of noise, and the higher you spin it the more noise it makes. Mine is all gear lash and mechanical thrash; no cool whooshing noises or anything. It doesn't sound cool or sporty, just loud and mechanical. It makes the exhaust louder too, which compensates a bit. I rode in a KW AP2 once and those have more of the turbo whoosh sound which is pretty neat. The KW setup complements the F20/F22 very nicely and is a great kit for DD cars, but I knew I'd want more power so I went SOS and kept swapping pulleys until I had enough.
My other favorite thing to do is to merge onto a multi-lane highway from low speed, say 20mph when the other cars are doing 50-55. Let a bunch of them roll past you, then stomp it in 2nd and feel the car gather itself up and shove you back in the seat as it takes off. A few seconds later you're at the top of 2nd and about to shift when you realize that all of those cars (which were flying past you) are now moving back toward you because you're overtaking them. It's like somebody hit Rewind on a video of highway traffic! Really strange sensation, and very cool. This was my first WOT experience at this power level (on the way home from my last tune) and it blew me away. At first I was like, WTF? because it seemed like everything was moving backwards toward me all of a sudden. It actually took my brain a while to realize I had caught up to them and was moving faster than they were because it had all happened so fast. Never felt that before...
Oh, and the SOS kit is completely reversible. No cutting or drilling, yada yada yada.
On your car - the motor is completely bone stock internals, no head gasket, etc? How overspun is the 1200 for that boost level?
I didn't think I wanted a huge amount of HP, just "more." Then I drove a buddy's 800hp shop Supra (3.4L stroker, 10k rpm, T88 .85a/r, claimed ~1200hp on race gas). Absolute lag monster - almost nothing until about 6k rpm, at 6,500 it just plants you. You get a little less than a second in 1st from 6,500 to 10,000, and maybe just shy of 2sec for 2nd & 3rd (that's all I had room for). He has Mickey Thompsons on it so even 1st gear traction was no issue. Completely absurd for any kind of street (much less Tail of the Dragon) use, but holy
it's a great feeling.
I completely relate to that "rewind" feeling Moral of the story: maybe more is better, so long as it's still reliable... How long / how many miles have you been running @ 15.5psi?
I'm pretty set on the SOS 1200 kit just a matter of getting the money together and selling the wife on it one last time
. But there's a KW kit in the classifieds now - should I be worried about the pulley/bearing issue?

I would have to disagree with TO I went with the BLV just so I could leave on the 3.0" pulley because I love the way the blower whistle it makes. I couldn't hear it with the 4.2" pulley.

I'm a bit confused at what your saying. Are you saying you have a 1200 with a 3" and it sounds good? Nice whistle and not crunchy like Trqobsed is experiencing?
