"Are you cool with blowing up your engine?"

If not SC, if so turbo.

Made my descision a whole lot easier.
Thats a bad question

Both SCs and turbos blow up engines

I agree - what a silly question.

Think about the operating properties of superchargers and turbochargers. How is a turbo going to make your engine blow up?

cbender has years of experience with his turbo road race car. He wrote up a wonderful thread that you should take time reading it.
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=220226

A little quote from him.
"1. 2K miles in one race weekend included 1500 miles to/from Monterrey. It's a bit of a haul, but I was able to drive both Laguna-Seca and Thunderhill in the same weekend, which made the drive less onerous. I, too, get about 6mpg on the track, so the fuel bill's a bit steep.

2. There's no doubt that the supercharger is easier to setup, easier to tune, and less troublesome. Had I known how hard setting up a turbo would be, I'd not have done it. That said, there's also no doubt that the turbo produces an awful lot more power under the curve for the same peak horsepower. I've driven supercharged S2K's on the track, and I like them. The difference, in feeling, is that the supercharged cars feel like stock, but with greater punch. A turbo S2K feels like an entirely different animal. In some respects, that's good."

Here's what you should do/get if you decided to go turbo:
1. Get a good tuner!
2. Ball bearing turbo with oil & water cool (much more reliable).
3. Safety wired main bolts that hold turbo to the manifold.
4. Use locking head nuts to hold turbo manifold to the cylinder head.
This is what I use http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant...tegory_Code=FST
5. Stock exhaust manifold studs will most likely break (I broke 2). I am using stainless steel studs from ARP http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.a...15&autoview=sku I called them up directly and told them I only want 7 studs without nuts and washers. That saved me about $40.
6. Oil return to girdle instead of oil pan to prevent oil backup. Even with BB turbo that requires less oil.

kutsujula has a very nice setup with a great torque curve if you like to road race.

Please read cbender's thread for more info.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted

Thanks for the input everyone.

Pawan those threads were great. It is greatly appreciated. I have done a lot of more research since the orig post. Still trying to figure everything out. I spoke to my tuner about everything and he has given me some ideas.

As for the oil jet bolts. I did a search on them. I didn't see very many people have issues with them only a select few. Has anyone here had a personal experience with it?

Thanks again everyone.

I think he has some headwork. Lowers the cr a bit. I think 12 lbs is about as much as you want to push stock head gasket. Ill let you know soon!
