Turboing a high mileage s2000
Hello, was just wondering how safe or what problems will I come across putting a turbo kit on a s2000 with 125000 miles. I only want 400whp on e85. Note I'm asking is because I need to drive 350 miles to college and need to know if it would be safe to make the drive or will I come with difficulties.
Do a compression and leakdown test to get an idea of your engine's health. I would also upgrade the intake valve spring retainers and keepers to AP2 units if you haven't already. I will be boosting my car at 125xxx miles soon too. Its got some oil leaks that will be addressed before boost, but it has 235 compression across the board so I'm not worried.
Agreed with the above post. If the leak down and compression test check out then I'd say go for it. A properly tuned car can easily make a long journey. Should not be a problem.
I supercharged my s at 126k. Right before I rebuilt the head with super tech parts. Been super reliable so far

compression / leak down test, does your motor burn oil? Maybe slap an oil pressure gauge to verify that you aren't gonna have any problems be amplified by boost. My engine was seemingly running 100% fine, but it burned about half a quart of oil every 1k miles, I checked into the engine and found that it also had low oil pressure. Took the engine to Endyne and the cylinder walls were badly scratched in some areas and my 3rd main bearing was on the verge of spinning.

I just rolled over 100k miles yesterday in my Ap1 on the way back from getting the car tuned with the Ptuning turbo kit. 2 hour drive back with some highway pulls and all is well. Mileage isn't as much of a determining factor as abuse is. I've taken very good care of my car since I bought it with 66k miles 5 years ago. All about proper maintenance.
