Using a Apexi VAFC only with turbo?
Im wanting to install a turbo system on my 00 s2k but was wondering if I am planning on running low boost say 7-8psi, is it safe to run just a apexi vafc for fuel management? Im new to the turbo thing, any help would be great. I have read lots of treads just cant seem to find anything on this one.
Thanks
Thanks
Are you trying to save some $$$? If so 7lb of boost can be achieved with the SC. It's cheaper and you can run the s/c with the stock ECU better than with a turbo. Remember, you can't tune a car with the stock ecu. The AEM EMS is AWESOME though, and it's one of the things that's definitely worth the $$.

why not just wait a little longer and get the ems or e-manage so you can get the most out of your already high investment into the car. Its worth it in the end.
100%... I started out with the stock ECU and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it all at the same time. Then WHEN (yes, it will happen) you decide to get more power, you're ready!
Thanks for all the replies. Many of you mentioned the e-manage, who makes that and what is the cost. I have always wanted to go turbo, but the AEM cost so much. I guess I need to wait until all can be afforded.

i used a vafc for a year at 7 psi and it ran fine then i saved enough money to buy the aem ems. there are plenty of people that use the vafc with supercharged s2000s i dont see why not with turbo... a boosted motor by s/c or turbo is a boosted motor.e-manage is a nice choice too but they are still piggyback units, nothing like a standalone.
Greddy makes the emanage. Its a very capable system. Although not entirly as good as an EMS, its close. Allows adjustments of ignition and timing as well as larger injectors (however, only limited to +150% bigger over stock)
You can get them used around 450 dollars. Compared to the 1300 dollar AEM, unless your going nuts, the AEM isn't worth it.
