It will be a strong gasoline smell similar to smelling the tank.

All cars will have a little gas smell in the oil.

What happens is there is less ring sealing and greater wear from less lubrication at the cylinder wall. The oil is "washed" with gasoline and removed to the pan. This results in less oil on the cylinder walls and "thinner" gasoline diluted oil to lube the engine.

I'd put the stock AP1 pulley in and pull the timing box and see what happens. I wouldn't have tried to up the boost without engine management and injectors to tune it. 99% that timing box is your issue imo.

The Vortech black box is frequently accused of being the problem. It turns out the black box is the problem most of the time.

I suggest you get an AEM EMS or appropriate management system, bigger injectors, FPR and do it right. Going forward with the black box will only gobble up your money and leave you disappointed. Do it right the first time even if it slows you down a little.

A clunker daily driver will make playing with your car a lot more fun. You don't have to worry about getting it back together on a deadline. Makes life so much nicer.

Ok so this is what I found out today: I talked to split sec and after a long conversation they said to use their software and tune the black box for 2 cyl 2 stroke that is how their box is designed.

I remember the other day when I went to pick up my car I talked to the tuner he told me it he tried and some reason the car isn't responding he told me what he did via tune on 4 cyl 4 stroke and had called split sec to ask whats going on. They told him to tune it for 2 cyl 2 stroke (thats how their box operates). So the tuner did that and the car did not like it so he went back to 4 cyl 4 stroke.

Anyone familar with their software that can tell me if this is what's causing the issue? Should I see if he can tune the black box I have now and see if that will help and if not swap boxes? Hmmm... What do you guys think. Should I go back to him or find someone else. Oh yea BTW it's Carb Connection and just saw a thread on here their the ones who blew S2000Junky's Motor a while back.

Never heard of anyone tuning the black box. You just gotta ditch it and get some actual engine management before you spend more money with busted engine or something.
Get the oem pulley and remove the black box and see if it fixes your issues. Stop trying to have them tune the black box imo..

Wow , talk about gremlins . I have seen the software (R4) that tunes the split second boxes before and it seems to be straight forward in the hands of a competent person . Obviously a proper ems system is the best way to go but the split second black boxes can work just fine for lower boost situations . If i were in a position like this and didnt want to spend more money then i would call Vortech and see if they would reprogram the black box for you . That is more than likely the cheapest way to go . After that go back to the dyno and recheck things again . The engine will be ok to see a/f ratios of anywhere from mid 10s to low 12s at wot . The ap2s ive setup ran a/f ratios of high 10s at full tilt utilizing the split second boxes . Again a proper ems with a good tune from a reputable tuner is the best thing and opens the doors for much more power in the future .

I have a new black box coming Tuesday but....... my car might be in the body shop. Things seem to happen to me all at once. Valet driver took my car off roading and pulled both front fenders out. FML
