I agree here . Pull the belt and do another pull . The blower should turn freely by hand . I really doubt the blower is the problem though . My blower has over 30k on it and ive never had a problem with it . These superchargers should last 80 k + imop .

Ok so just got back from the tuner. This is what we found out today. So with the belt off the car is at stock power no load on the crank pulley. With the belt on and ac disconnected (no boost but load on crank pulley) power goes down. The blower does moves freely by hand. This where we're stuck. I'm thinking there might be a little unnoticeable drag on the blower that with the belt installed it creates so much drag and causing the crank pulley to work harder that that's why no power is produce but there is still boost.

Belt is off the car and box disconnected. Running na right now.

Ok , so the car is na now and makes the same power as before ? I cant imagine the blower sucking up all that extra power if it turns freely . I have to say that im stumped here . Check the blower for free play , and then send it out to have it checked i suppose .

Yup the car is NA right now with the belt off and box disconnected and is making the same power it did when it was stock. If we put the belt on we make like 20 hp more with 8 psi. It's weird. We will be contacting Vortech Tuesday to discuss this and I'm pretty sure they are gonna tell us to send the headunit in.

Forgot to add that when I am running na belt off and no box they see about 28 degrees of timing. With the belt on no box timing is at 8 degrees.

The blower moves freely by hand and no shaft play. I tried to see if there's any free play in and out, left to right, up and down. Nothing.

Do you think if I get aem ems or haltech it'll fix this problem? I don't know why the ecu is pulling so much timing with the belt on but no boost going into manifold.

Doesn't the ecu pull timing when seeing boost?

No it will just crap out. It should have a MAP clamp in the black box which hides the ECU from detecting boost.

This problem is an interesting one. I did not re read all the post, but did we run everything minus the black box, with another MAP clamp device in place? Seems like a problem with the VT management/black box. 8 degrees of timing would drop a ton of power. And there is no reason that would happen unless there is something amiss with a VT component or management. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the blower.

Think he said he only ran it without the black box and the car bogged down and threw a code. Only way to test for sure if it is the black box is to run a map clamp or spacer and no black box and see if it makes power or improves.

We had ran the car in so many ways to eliminate every part.

black box wired in-
Dyno the car with sc on- no pwr
belt on/blower venting to atmosphere- no pwr
belt off- car ran just like stock w/ 27-30 degrees timing

black box not wired in-
Sc installed- car bogged out threw cel
belt installed- no pwr w/ 7-10 degrees timing
belt off- car ran like stock/ na

aftercooler has no obstructions

moddiction- don't you still have the comtech esm? Can you send me your paypal via pm might need it. wanna try something.
