To each his own. However, I've driven a few of these CTSC S2Ks and they tend to ping by about 7 psi. It isn't a death rattle, but detonation nonetheless, especially on hot days, and on our pump fuels. Better to get it over with now than have to pull everything off later. Thicker head gasket = piece of mind. You'll get better driveability preserving timing advance over compression.

I think the gasket is only $160. The labor is what might be costly if you don't do it yourself.
