Drove the S down to Mexico
A couple of video clips:
We don't have any tunnels like this in Kansas City, so the Hidalgo Tunnel was pretty cool to me.

just a short clip of the toll road between Matehuala and San Luis Pitosi:

Looking back, I guess it was a little "risky" doing the roadtrip solo. In fact, the border patrol agents gave me this crazy look when I said nobody was with me. That might better explain why they searched my car so many times, haha.
I was certainly well aware of the hostilities along the border, so I planned accordingly. Basically, only stopped in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico for a short while to get the appropriate documents, etc... Also, I let folks know the route I was planning to take, just in case a brotha vanished, haha. I actually thought about turning around not long after I got into Mexico, haha. Cruising between the border and Monterrey, 3 blacked-out Hummers with no license plates went flying past me on the highway. It was especially surprising, because I was already moving along in the neighorhood of 140ft per second---I wonder who they were
Oh, if you're planning a roadtrip down to Mexico at any point. DO N-O-T drive at night. Or avoid it if you can. I actually ran out of daylight on the trip down---and couldn't miss some potholes and many of the free-highways have HUGE drop-offs along the edge (literally, 1 foot or more). So if you drop a wheel, you're going to do some damage.
All in all, it was a worthwhile trip. Got to drive down some sweet roads and see Mexico from a new perspective. Even managed to get some karting in!!!!
Who's up for a roadtrip to Monterrey?!
