Thanks for the props everyone! It was worth the 3-month wait (still quicker than the 7-month wait for my exhaust).

you know whats funny?
Mugen was the original to design this intake. Then J's loved it so much they copied it and added the chamber, then ASM did the same.
sure a long tube gets you hp/tq..but where??? below vtec. UMMMM..at high rpm's..they do VERY little.
the Mugen which was desinged and tested in a wind tunnel(winds a hell of a lot faster than the car can go BTW) was the way the Honda engineers found to be the best way to get air when the car needs it most. 6-9K.
this intake works on the principles of an intake for a f1 car. they rev to 19k..gee I wonder why the dont run a 150 dollar metal pipe and a filter.
the Mugen,J's, ASM are true works of art.
I think the ASM piece is beautiful. I also like that a new JDM intake is on 1 of our cars.
oh 1 last thing. Several s2000 owners have the tube intake..you know what.. it looks cheap and destroys the engine bay.. the Mugen, J's, ASM cover the frame bar, look like they were purposefully designed for the car(They WERE). The tube.. yeah, every car on earth has a tube intake(AEM).. and Im sure COUNTLESS engineering hours went in to designing a long tube.
medicalstudent...great piece..Im looking forwrd to the report!

They make these intakes ou of carbon, kevlar, etc, with these designs that basically look close to stock with an added air scoop because they know that there will be people who will buy then so they can make there fortunes. Plain and simple, they do not make these for there function or because there's works better then others. They make then for the consumer's, and hell the more money they get for there "JDM" pieces the better it is for them.
Riiiight... Carbon fiber, along with many other composites are known for their property of not retaining heat. Look at the ITB boxes raging from all levels of formula cars to airboxes found on Ferraris, Porsche's and the Mclaren F1. Want more proof look at the Composite tiles on the bottom of a Space shuttle. Composites such as Carbon fiber and Kevlar serve much more of a purpose then just being cool looking and expensive. They have properties that far surpass those of metal alone.

This has nothing to do with being JDM. The only reason why it's made in Japan? THEY HAVE THE SUPPORT FOR IT. What do we call racing here? The drama of Nascar and dumbass drivers running infront of cars driving at 200mph? Give me a break. The grass roots of racing in Japan and Europe are so much bigger then it is here, they can support the kind of creative thinking and engineering improvements that racing brings about. Don't bring this "JDM" bullshit reason into it. It's only JDM because we're all too stupid out here in the big bad US.

I wonder if in the realm of things how much time had elapsed between when you signed up and me. Shit, I was on dial-up when I signed up!

BTW, 5ft box? They didn't save you anything on shipping that's for sure.
