Soap, water, pat dry. Nothing else needed. The paint is sealed and protected underneath.

plasti dip has new color other than white/black/red/yellow/blue?!

is this custom order or something? link me anyone pls?!
Go to dipyourcar.com
thx man. i wonder if u can order custom color like brown or something?
Yes you can. You can either order a tinting kit and mix your own, or send them a sample/photo of the color you want and they will mix it for you.
that's good to know, thx. do all plasti dip come out matte? or is there gloss finish?

btw, the matte red looks soooo sweet on ur car, it be great if u can share more up close shots.

You can see more close up photos on the previous page, but here you go....

can you post some close up pics of the hood and trunk? when I walked by it at the dragon it looked very textured, I didn't stop to look at it up close tho. I have had 2 friends do their whole car and ended up peeling it all off the same day because they could not get the hood and trunk to look even and smooth. Please take a few shots at different angles if possible. thanks

My hood and trunk was not done well. Read all my posts in this thread which explains why. The mirror is what it is SUPPOSED to look like when done properly with good conditions. The hood/trunk was overly textured because it was too cold outside and the dip was drying way too fast. Also, most people try to cover the hood and trunk too fast. It just takes practice and patience. You need to put on very fine misty coats for a perfect finish. I was new with the gun and sprayed WAAAY too fast which is what caused the texture. I will re-spray the car again, which will come out a lot better, and I will post a how to as well.

BTW, the interesting thing is all the panels vertical (doors, fenders, etc) came out nicely and those that are horizontal (hood, trunk) came out textured. This makes me think that it was also the way I was holding the gun as well as the direction I was spraying. I was also afraid of the gun cord touching the wet panel so I help the gun WAY too high and sprayed from way too far away.

Yes, light coats is key and also the temperature in which it's done. If I do mine, I think it will be better to take off the hood and trunk and spray them that way. I think it will ensure more even coats. Patience is a must lol, and practice makes perfect.

hi guys,

i want to make my emblems from chrome to black.

can you give me advice how i should do this?
cant imagine that taping around and spray on it is enough!?

keeping the shape of the emblem with the tape is difficult for sure
and then it will look horrible.

whats the secret

DO NOT try and tape as close to the emblem as possible. You will make your cleaning job a LOT harder. Leave a 2" space around the emblem, and spray away. This will give you something to grab when you go to peel it.

Nope put a nice 2" border all the way around and make sure that you cover areas around it with newpaper to catch any accidental over sprey. It will look like a big black spray painted box on you car but you just need to use a toothpick to "scratch" the excess plastidip around your emblem away. I was the same way until this weekend and in all reality it was super simple.

From a post on the second page...

I experimented on some brackets.

Each bracket has 2 coats of plasti dip. One of the brackets has 2 coats of Gloss Clear.

Here's mine w/ 5 coats of Plasti Dip. I'm still waiting for it to dry and add a few coats of gloss before I peel it off.

About 4 hrs later!

Finished Results!

Ah, thanks, got it. That's what I was thinking but wasn't sure if the plastidip would peel off or anything

Here is an update for those of you who may care... Fonzie is no longer producing or selling custom colors...after a couple of weeks of trying to get this accomplished, they contacted me today to let me know that the only colors they would supply are currently on the dipyourcar.com site. However, after speaking with the good folks at plasti dip in Minnesota, you can create your own color very easily...you just purchase the clear plastidip and then go to Sherwin Williams and ge any enamel or solvent based paint tint and add it yourself. So if you don't want matte black or Monster Green...you can get just about whatever you can think. I am going to do the entire car and the wheels, will need to wait a bit so the weather gets HOT.
