haha.. I love how much discussion this is getting.

and for the rear mounted turbos (sts), amazing idea for the cars that have the displacement for it.

And Rayn.. You should of hear it go by your house about..... half hour ago, give or take a few minutes.

ohh, and kirnmike, when you show me a diffuser that is made for this car that is actually truly functional, then I will worry about that.

truly functional is a general word. alot of things can be taken into consideration before even getting to the "truly functional" diffuser.

u tell me why u thought a radiator in the back would do good. cuz im obviously not seeing any benefit here. if anything, the air pressure in front of the radiator is probably not enough to have the vacuum of the rear to pull it out. teach me something. and post some pictures of how things look around the differential pumpkin and the radiator shroud u made.

this is the trunk i had cut out for mine long ago.. (yea i do some weird sh1t)

the rear undercarriage itself will prevent "efficient" airflow no matter how you make the shroud. but that's just bench talk guessing. and plus, everything that the air touches before reaching the rear is already causing disturbance/turbulence/drag/lift in the undercarriage.

if the air DOES flow "efficiently" from under >>> through the radiator >>> out through the back, then that already is alot of drag. And if this is for a daily drive..then u probably won't reach speeds where this will really benefit (if there is any... so far this will throw the weight distribution off ALOT). if you track and somehow find a crazy way to move more weight towards the back and also have even more efficient air cool, then props.

i mean.. it looks cool and new but like.... dam.... (even japanese race teams keep the radiators up front & they're japanese!!!!!!!!!!!)

im buzzed though so it's whatevz.
when it comes to tuning, i think it's really really hard to benefit cooling / downforce from using air that's travel underneath the chassis. if anything, naca ducts have been used...but as far as large scale efficient cooling, i haven't seen one yet. if anything, the most common way that's worked for generations is cooling from FRONT >>> TOP (or side)

Well executed but like many I think you may be making some problems for you, but to be honest it's worth a shot so why not... try and rule out the problems too.... Natural underbody airflow is going to be an issue in getting it to the rad and again with the pump issue, extra heating from gearbox, exhaust etc...

However what I would do is go with the old F1 car and put some sick high powered fans and get some suction going on instead lol.

Should of maybe bought a smaller rad or something and got an extended front bumper to hide it from the bay then added ducting from the front up into the intake....

kirnmike, ok. All well said.

Truly functional is very general, so, there is no made diffuser for the s2000 that can flow any amount of air to cause down force. For information you could research diffusers and what is necessary to make them properly work. The fans you were suggesting would work better.

Drag. It I was ultimately worried about drag I would cover the huge gaping hole in the front of the car. Hold a cup out the window at 60mph, similar effect. Yes, a LOT of air does flow down from the engine bay but I think heat goes up. And I would also just take the rear bumper off.

Weight distribution. Since you have cut out the rear bowl in the car too, you can weigh it. I haven't actually done that yet so I am curious. take that out. And then put an aluminum radiator in its place. You could add the pipes in the equation but the are front to back so the about even themselves out. So the main weight in the rear is the coolant in the radiator. Now put a few things up front to ad some weight to it. Lets go with an intercooler, similar to the aluminum radiator that is already adding a lot of weight in the back.... Then puts some piping up there. And maybe a turbo. and then the extra piping for exhaust, and stuff like that. And that is not even everything that would be going in the engine bay.

I am actually pretty curious to the weight that is being taken out of the back. And the weight that is being put in it. And the weight that will be going up front. After this I will go out to the shop and weight some things and then give you an update on that.

And also the cooling potential of this system. Everyone has brought up wonderful point. But yet no one actually has full knowledge of the set up. So time will tell all of the entire project and how it works.

Sadly as of now I got my pipes back from the..... welding service... and simply but putting fluid in them and all of what he welded, I came to learn that almost all the welds leaked. Cant trust anyone to do anything right these days. haha So my plan is now just see if I can find a tig welder for the shop and weld it myself. Which I will need anyways for later projects.

yeah.. I called the guy back and he was like.. Well I don't know what to tell you, I can seal them up but it wont be free. Really pissed me off. But I figure a lot of my future projects will require tig welding so I might as well just get one.

And I went out to the shop and weight three things. The bowl with stuff that goes in it in the car. The radiator with fans. And pretty little turbo.
I know the scale wasn't the best, haha but it game me an idea.

Bowl - 15 lb
Radiator - 16 lb
Turbo -14 lb

Now think of the stuff that comes out and the stuff that goes in and where it goes on the car. and this is not even counting all the stuff I previously mentioned.
This is some of the stuff I was kind of looking at when I came to the idea of doing this.

Now just think of the guys that are going with there turbo kits. The weight of the turbo, the manifold (mostly a iron chunk), the piping, the intercooler. All that jazz, and it is all just being added to the front.

Yet to be honest, none of this really matters seeming most of us are not building race cars.
