Saving a babied Ap1. Moonrock Content FINALLY inside :)
I believe, they weld some king of pin/little rods to the panel, then pull the pin out. Once its done, they cut it and grind it back off. The painter, spent a lot of time tring to get that part right and close to perfect. The rear quarter panel on the other hand was easer, they just sliced it. lol yes, SLICED it, straightned it then welded it back on.
appreciate it. As I have always said, it is s2k owners like you all that give me hope and confidence to tackle such a project. Thanking all of you
Honestly did not expect such a great response from S2ki. Thought I would be bashed by at least a few for buying a salvage car. But I guess you all true car enthusiasts like the fact that I am saving it. Wait till I get this bitc# HellaFlushed all the way, some deep dish Rotas, 195s in the front, 215s in the rear, flush as heck . :
just kidding. Will never ever let that crap happen to this S
Same here, I am thinking Friday I should get it back.
Thanks for the kind words, I sure will once it's done .
So due to the fact that i used the PPG 2021 Clear coat, it had to be sanded within 24 hours after application. Neither me nor the body shop were really sure if that was right because that is very short time but contacted PPG, and made sure. It was true, the clear coat hardens way too much if not sanded and buffed soon enough. So gave the body shop the signal to go ahead, and do it.
Here are a few pictures that I snapped today.

And that is my painter, buffing it out the wetsanded area. Great guy, never says no to me, and always has a smile to his face. BUT, never meets any of the deadlines he sets
Hood buffed out, not sure about the fenders. You can see a bit of the nibs that are in the hood.

You can see the excess amount of orange peel on the door since it had a lot of work done to get the dings etc out. So the bondo soaked the paint. Color sanding is the answer

As much of a perfectionist that I have been with this project, I ran into a little bit of problem. That paint has a few dirt spots in the base coat. Not a lot, but still bugs me.
. The shop is for sure going to repait that hood, and asked me if I want them to retouch the spots. Gotta decide on the second option now. Then of course, aligning all those freaking panels :S
And apart from all that, my next step after I take the car is to wetsand the whole car down with 2-3000 grit again, with a DA Sander. YES!!! the bodyshop did it, but I still wont be happy unless I do it MY WAY as a detailer
