Help on shift knob removal

Default Help on shift knob removal

Can u guys help me. Ive been trying to remove my ap2 knob but i cant find that locking nut and yes ive been searching how to remove it and i cant find that locking nut.. I saw most of the thread how remove it but they have the ap1 knob not the ap2.. The reason why i need to remove the knob is that im trying remove my soft top.. And its part of the instruction..

Not sure why you need to remove the shift knob to remove the soft top unless you're removing the switch too.

You may not have a lock nut on yours but it's hard to align the shift pattern with the vehicle without one. I removed my leather knob in a fit of wild customization last summer when I fitted the ball shaped CR (?) knob. There was a lock nut on my AP2. She's in storage so I can't find a photo,

You don't have the lock nut, it is missing, Just grab the knob and turn left with a bit of force.

Missing the nut. As you are sitting In the driver seat you turn the knob counter clockwise.

Just a fyi: this dosnt need to be removed if your doing a top. What directions are you reading?

You can litterly do a top install with removing just the seats, spare tire, and the rear package tray stuff. Roll hoops, center consoles, and everything else can stay.

Lefty loosy, righty tighty. So Step 1 grab knob. Step 2 twist left (counter clockwise, towards drivers seat). Step 3 profit?
