The SECRET COMPARTMENT really DOES exist!
Your factory radio will control a 6-disc CD changer. Therefore the radio controls on the left will also control the CD changer. The whole install can be done with no cutting or modifications to the car in about 30 minutes.
rickycrx... what a genius! Thanks for that... my last car... Eclipse GT had a four disk changer right in the dash and I got kinda spoiled with that. I figured the S would be quite capable of that too... but Sunshine Audio didn't think so... They said that they could put a disc changer in the trunk... I have to say that I'm not really happy with their work anyway... I had keyless entry installed and they didn't even secure the box under the dash. It was hanging down by it's wires! I went and bought some zip ties and hooked it up under the dash myself. What's a girl gotta do!

I read that a couple of you guys have had a disc changer installed... did they hook it up to the controls at the left of the steering wheel? I went to Sunshine Audio and they told me that they wouldn't be able to do that... I'd have to forgo using those controls for that... Are they feeding me a line...? I wouldn't know...

I found this out in June, so it is a little belated... but after seeing my dumba$$ in the FreshWater 2004 DVD... I thought I'd post and admit ignorance before it comes back to bite me in the butt!
So the story goes:
Mid Spring, on a sunny day... back in the good ol' year of 2001... I bought my brand new... fresh from the factory MY02 Suzuka Blue S2000! Enthusiasm was just the tip of the ice-berg... with a whole monster lying 'n wait under the water! At the time I was so overwhelmed by having the first Suzuka blue in Michigan... that I failed to notice first: my saleswomen was worthless- second: I overpaid by about 4g's, and third: THAT THERE WAS A SECRET COMPARTMENT!!
All this time... I've read threads with your typical witty rhetoric... never taking the time or caring to realize that there was some truth to all the
. I seriously thought it was no more than an inside joke...
...and then... at the tour, I see about 2 or 3 people at one of our pit-stops with their UPPER COUNSEL OPEN!!??
...I run over in disbelief... and there it was- The Secret Compartment!
Well initially, I couldn't get that Saturday Night Live bit, with Rob Schneider, out of my head; "Dude... you can hide your
in there!" ...as I thought of so many ways to make money crossin' over into Windsor, CA a couple times a week!
...but then... I realized...
Who the
owns a car for THREE years... and overlooks something like this!!
Well... I guess I do!

Just kidding!
I'm surprised you were able to find the gas door release though.
Please do not post any pictures of the secret compartment. That's why it's secret. I have some valuable and dangerous stuff in there, and I don't want people (non-S2K owners) and cops to find it.
Hmmm. I wasn't trying to stir up trouble. Just thought it was a useful pic for new owners (or not-so-new owners in some cases
) that didn't know where it was. Anyway ...
1. Before my post, this thread already contained a pic of the secret compartment, a link to another thread with pics, and a detailed description of how to open it. So, the secret was already out. I just added a pic that I hadn't seen before that shows the compartment from a slightly different angle. Just one more bit of info.
2. I feel that the legitimate use of this thread by owners and soon-to-be owners outweighs any concerns about the secret getting into the "wrong hands". Besides, you don't come to this site unless you're an s2000 owner or fan.
What's all the fanfare? What's the to-do?
Your thoughts, Joe? (since this is your thread). I'll take it down if there's a consensus in the community.

This thread is now linked from the forum's FAQ sheet. It's here as reference, and so be it. No point in having a secret if so many owners don't even know about it!
Hopefully, this thread has solved that problem.
