bluezeke,

I think the "hidden" secret compartment is indeed intentional. Anyone unfamiliar with the car would just think the compartment cover is just part of the interior body.

The trunk release?? Well, that's another story. I think that's just engineering convenience. THey put the pull with the shortest reach from the gas tank cover. The fact that it's inconvenient is probably just a side-effect and not intentional (my opinion).

It was always my understanding that the trunk release was located in the glove-box so that it was lockable.

Every Honda I've ever driven (that had a separately enclosed trunk) had a lockable trunk release. This is so that someone that breaks into the car, can't necessarily just open the trunk (of course what's stopping them from just breaking into the trunk?). But it also is not able to be unlocked by the valet key.

Now, I will say, that I do not consider the lock on the glove-box to be all that great of a deterrent. But (IIRC, it was Modifry) there was a DIY to wire the trunk release button so that it is only powered when the key is in the ignition. The idea here is that if you need to open the trunk while the car is running, you can use the trunk release button (without having to remove the keys from the ignition). But if you have the keys in your hand, you can just use the key or the button on the fob. And then you don't have to lock the glove-box if you want to disable the use of the trunk release button.

i thought my s2k came without an owners manual since it was no where to be found. it was in the secret compartment. lol

oooh funny story. i keep my insurance in there, so when i got pulled over and opened it up, the cop got a little spooked and his partner flashed his light in there to see if i had any of the illegals. they didnt find anything, but it sucks that they were trying to say my car was a miata. *whomp whomp.*

I just bought MY03 a week before christmas and didn't know about the SC until this thread. I am now going to look at the SC as we speak. Thanks S2Ki!

In my sc I found the original window sticker ($33,060 of course), some misc manuals, and the originial check list from when the car was new. My owners manual was behind my passenger seat.

I love getting a used car that has all its proper books/manuals. I did only get one key and remote however.

okay... before i tell my embarasing story about 'finding' in the S.. i must excuse myself by adding that i am blonde..

anyways. i've been infatuated with the S since i first laid eyes on it in 00... november of last year i finally got my hands on MY05 s2k.. one glorious night, (about 5 days after i bought it) i was sitting in the car, waiting on a friend to get off work, when i saw the volume control on the dash left of the stearing wheel.. and above that a MUTE and CHANGE button... i almost sh!t myself!! i've driven numerous s2k's in the past, now owned one.. and i had JUST noticed the volume control.. i guess i was too distracted by the rpms flying up so high.. and the 6 speeds (my first manual) ... now dont get me started on the gas release

I think that this is some of the funniest conversation I have read. I picked up my S2k 29 December, have been on this forum group about a week and have learned several things about my S I had no idea existed. This is hilarious stuff.

Chaz, wouldnt the shortest reach be a flip open gas door?
