Haha, wow. I've owned my '01 for about 3 Month's, and I had no clue until 2 minutes ago this compartment existed. I've seen a thread where an AP2 had it flipped open and thought the AP1's just didn't have it. Color me stupid. First thing Tomorrow I am opening it, and putting something in there. Haha.

Just to save you another three years...

The Super Secret Compartment is behind the trunk liner to the left of the spare tire. You can get a lot of stuff in there.

HOLY CRAP!!!! Ok, after reading this thread I had to check it our for myself.

I had just bought the car about 10 days ago and always wondered where the hell my owners manual was at because the dealership didnt have it either. After reading everyone finding there manual in this "secret compartment", I had to take a break from work and go check it out...

As I slowly walked towards my S, unlock the passenger side and start reaching to open the main compartment. Little hesitant to open as I pray my owners manual is in this spot. Getting a little excited as I pop open the main compartment...And then, as I reach to open this new latch..POP!! Just to take a quick glance and......... THERE IT WAS!! Like some kid in a candy store, could not hold myself back grab the manual out.

Thanks everyone for this thread or else I dont believe I would ever have found it.

i thought my s2k came without an owners manual since it was no where to be found. it was in the secret compartment. lol

oooh funny story. i keep my insurance in there, so when i got pulled over and opened it up, the cop got a little spooked and his partner flashed his light in there to see if i had any of the illegals.
The best place I've found for insurance and registration is under that little elastic strap piece on the inside of the fold down door below the secret compartment. I'm not sure what else it was intended to do, but it holds that stuff perfectly.

dude~ that's not hard to find. it's obvious.

now the gas tank door was hard to find.

took me all 10 minutes.

Evo's got a secret compartment that probably 30% of the owners don't know about.
