when i bought the car back in the winter of 2000, i wanted to go for a test drive but the car wouldnt start so the dealer had to go get jumper cables and when that didnt work, we went to test drive another S2000 on the other side of the lot and when THAT one didnt start either, we went inside to get coffee while the head technicians went out to look at them to figure out what on earth could be causing two brand spanking new cars to die....and that was the day both the dealer and myself learned about the STARTER button!

I was one of those that found it in the showroom, but I can't be too cocky, 'cause on the test drive (They let me take it out with my wife for a couple of hours) I couldn't figure out how to get the car into reverse.
This must be confessional.

FYI, the reverse engagement has eluded many folks who've driven the car. Some long-time owners have simply been forcing the shifter into reverse without realizing they're supposed to push down.

I guess I hadn't really noticed it, but our car has a lot of little "things" that are unusual about it. Gotta' love ideosynchracies!

Most 6 speed trannies require you to push down to go into reverse. They are rare enough still that many people wouldn't have had the opportunity necessarily, but it's something indicitive of the style of transmission, not an S specific idiosyncracy.

i wish i can say i made it up but that was when the car first came out here in the US and I hadn't done any reading on it before the test drive so I didnt know about the damn starter button. Now I love it so much that I find myself trying to start my other cars but jaming my finger into the place where the starter button is on the S.

This thread is unreal. I am sure there have been MANY threads in the past just like this one.

Went to a dealership to test drive a used S and, to the salesguys credit, one of the first things he did once we got in the car was show us the Secret Compartment. An S educated salesperson. Although, this was a Honda dealership.
